Songs about food or cooking

Let's make a playlist, Dopers! Any genre will do, as long as food and/or cooking are involved.

"Pour Some Sugar On Me" Def Leppard

"Church" Lyle Lovette

".. it's time for dinner now
Let's go eat!
We got some beans
And some good cornbread..."

Dammit, I had a couple more in mind when I started this thread!

Weird Al-The Food Album
Quote:
The album was begrudgingly released by Yankovic, who felt that the compilation was unnecessary and merely a way for his record label to make money. Several food-related songs that Yankovic had recorded, such as "Girls Just Want to Have Lunch" and "Waffle King", were left off the record, although the former was due to personal preference, while the latter was due to scheduling issues.
Eat It
Lasagna
Addicted To Spuds
I Love Rocky Road
Spam
Eat It
The White Stuff
My Bologna
Taco Grande

"Food, Glorious Food" from Oliver!:

"Food, glorious food!
Hot sausage and mustard!
While we're in the mood –
Cold jelly and custard!"

"Cheeseburger in Paradise" by Jimmy Buffett

Quote:
Cheeseburger in paradise
Medium rare with mustard'd be nice
Heaven on Earth with an onion slice
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise

I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and French fried potatoes
Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer
Well, good god almighty, which way do I steer...

...for my cheeseburger in paradise?

Mama's Fried Potatoes by The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band. Also, their Persimmon Song.

The Last Supper from Jesus Christ Superstar

Look at all my trials and tribulations
Sinking in a gentle pool of wine.
What's that in the bread?
It's gone to my head.
Till this evening is this morning life is fine.

Also King Herod's Song

Prove to me that you're divine.
Change this water into wine.

Feed my household with this bread.
You can do it on your head.

And another Tim Rice lyrics, this time from Joseph's The Brothers Come to Egypt:

They've got corn, they've got meat, they've got food and drinks
And if we have the time we could see the Sphinx

The late great Guy Clark had a personal relationship with food.

- Texas Cookin'
- Watermelon Dream
- Homegrown Tomatoes

Only two things that money can't buy, and that's true love and homegrown tomatoes.

There was a stop action short shown on The Electric Company that showed pieces of food marching around while a stentorial voice sang to subtitles to the tune of Pomp and Circumstance:

Peanut butter and jelly
Milk, country eggs
Pears, pickles, and ketchup.
Cheese, chicken legs...

Apple cider and doughnuts,
Bread, whole wheat and rye.
Fresh creamery butter,
And blueberry pie...(bom, bom, bom...)

Fresh creamery butter,
AND BLUEBERRY PIIIIEEEE!!!!

It was only shown a couple of times, but my best friend and I had it memorized. We used to sing it loud while waiting for buses.

Later on, we made up a swear word parody...of that parody, I guess.

Bolding mine. Because this is the Dope and we're nitpicky pedants, the actual line is

Quote:
Medium rare with Muenster'd be nice
Which makes sense if Jimmy is singing about an actual cheeseburger and not some regular hamburger that some degenerate decided to ruin with mustard.

Carry on.

Didn't the Talking Heads devote an album to songs about food?

And buildings!

Speaking of them, a few of their songs make mention of food:

In "Life During Wartime":
"I got some groceries, some peanut butter, to last a couple of days"

In "Nothing But Flowers":
"We caught a rattlesnake, now we've got something for dinner"
"This was a Pizza Hut, now it's all covered with daisies"
"I miss the honky tonks, Dairy Queens, and 7-Elevens"

Allen Sherman's Grow Mrs. Goldfarb

You had for breakfast: two pounds bacon
Three dozen eggs, one coffee cake, and
Then you had something really awful
Four kippered herrings on a waffle
Nine English muffins, one baked apple
Boston cream pie, Philadelphia scrapple
Seventeen bowls of Crispy Crunch
Then you said, "What's for lunch?"

Paul Simon - So Beautiful or So What
Quote:
I'm gonna make a chicken gumbo
Toss some sausage in the pot
I'm gonna flavor it with okra
Cayenne pepper to make it hot
And on the lighter side, a little Ylvis - Stonehenge
Quote:
When I make my jalapeños
Calamari and prosciutto
I'm the king!

My wife applauds me in the kitchen
When I tell her all I bought is from the local store

Half the online lyrics say "mustard", half say "Muenster". I've always heard the former, and I just listed to the album version online and I cannot hear the 'n' in Muenster anywhere. But in this live version he clearly says "Muenster". Perhaps it's one of his songs that have evolved over time?

ETA - I withdraw my objection. The official Margaritaville lyrics say Muenster - https://www.margaritaville.com/album...er#lyrics-7279
