Those are all great cards sachertorte and ones I'd be interested in certainly.
Here's some help in sorting your cards (depending on how many you have and whether it's worth your time to do so) If it's black bordered and there's no expansion symbol (which will always be in the middle, righthand side) it's either Alpha or Beta. If it's white bordered and no expansion, it's either Unlimited, Revised or 4th. The UNL or Rev you can tell because there's no copyright symbol date on the bottom and they appear a bit faded or muted in color as compared to other cards. Arabian Knights have a scimitar as an expansion symbol and Legends has a portion of a column as its symbol. The key cards you're looking for, for the most part, have been listed. If you want to PM me, I can help give you an estimate of how many cards you have and what I'd be willing to pay for them. Thanks! Last edited by Enderw24; 12-13-2010 at 11:24 PM. |

I just looked through my boyfriend's cards. I knew he had at least 2 Demonic Tutors. Sadly, they're 3rd revised. I wonder what else he has in there. He definitely doesn't have as many as you guys though. I think he actually has more Star Trek cards than Magic cards.

Enderw24, I've been wanting to get rid of all the cards I don't need anymore - looks like roughly 600 or so. I'll PM you with an exact count and condition info.
Thanks for this deal. I've been wanting to pare down the collection a bit and just keep a couple of my favorite decks and a small stack of cards that I consider favorites, but no local shops do any trading anymore. |

Revised may be fine, but it's worth about $80 less apparently. ![]() Actually I have no idea if he wants to get rid of his Magic cards. He really doesn't have a huge amount and we have more than enough storage space in this house so they're not in the way. I only remembered the Demonic Tutor because it was a card I always made sure I had in my deck. I just couldn't remember what color the border was. The only thing of his that I'd sell without telling him first is the Transformers (he already said it's ok, except I can't sell Jetfire). |

This thread made for a fun treasure hunt, and I learned something too.
Sol Ring -- who would have thought? |
#57
|
|||
|
|||
Sol Ring is valuable for the same reason the Moxes and Lotus are. They provide more of a resource than they require to play. The cost of the Sol Ring isn't zero, and it's colorless mana, so it's less valuable than the others in play terms. The Sol Ring was also printed at uncommon and in more editions(mainly the Revised printing) so it isn't as valuable monetarially. But the principle holds and drives its value. c.f. Mana Vault, Mana Crypt.
Enjoy, Steven |

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I remember always wanting to have a sol ring in my deck and being quite happy when it came up. I guess I'm just surprised that they are somewhat rare now when before they were quite common. And by before I mean 1995.

Enderw24, at some point many years ago I ended up with a single green/red deck, the cards of which (excluding land, of course) have only been played about three times. There's nothing of value in it (example: after a quick glance, the most notable card I saw was Barbarian Ring...). I'm in Indiana, so I'd be willing to donate these to you just to have one less thing in my collection of 'stuff I can't seem to decide wtf to do with' and pay my own shipping - just PM me with a mailing address.

Attention Dopers:
I just completed my transaction with Enderw24. He's an excellent and trustworthy buyer. He maintained superb communication throughout the process, and paid promptly and generously. Very highly recommended. Sell with confidence, people. Thanks again, Ender! |

Ender - I saw your post and am interested in selling you bulk cards.
Here's the deal though. I have 30,000 to 35,000 to get rid of. All commons/uncommons mixed from Revised through Zendikar. I saw your bulk rate and so I thought I would reply. Would like to get rid of all of them. I live in Idaho and have figured that you can ship 3000 to 3500 cards in one medium USPS flat rate box @ 11.00 per box. I am not sure how much bulk you wanna buy, but i have a lot to sell and want to get rid of all of it. Please contact me if your interested. Thanks, Nate |

One question: What would you offer for a good to fine condition Urza's Saga era banned rare?
Not Tinker, the other one. Last edited by foolsguinea; 12-27-2010 at 10:43 PM. Reason: OK, I'll say it: Academy. |

Hey Ender, I know they're not nearly as valuable as what many in this thread have been talking about, but would you be interested in a bunch of Onslaught-era cards? I dabbled a bit in Magic around that time.

Hey all.
First, I want to thank the Dopers I've already made deals with. I've worked with over half a dozen of you, getting cards out of your storage closets and putting money in your pockets. But the offer is still open to anyone else interested in making a deal. If you have Magic cards you're looking to get rid of, post in here or PM me. Thanks! |

Hi all!
Every so often I get an inquiry about whether I'm still buying Magic Cards. I thought I'd bump this thread to say, yes. The offer is still open and I hope we can strike a deal. If you're interested in making a bit of cash and clearing out your hall closet, just let me know. Thanks! |

Hey, since this thread is back up, is there any value worth mentioning to foil versions of basic lands? I think I have a few from Invasion.
Oh, and from BlackKnight on the first page: Quote:

Are they worth money? Yeah, a bit. Off the top of my head I couldn't say how much. Maybe 25-50 cents apiece. I could take them, but honestly, if all you have is a few of those cards to sell, I'd say your best bet is to take them down to a local gaming shop and see if they're interested.

OK, that's about what I figured. I do have a few other cards that might be worth a little, too, but other than the foil lands, I think I'd prefer to just hold onto them, in case I ever want to put them in a deck.

Enderw24 it's been almost a year since you started this, and there are some pretty big numbers mentioned at places in the thread.
I'm curious, how many cards have you accumulated so far? |
#86

|||
|
|||
I have no idea. I'd have to go home and count. I think right now I have around 20,000 at a guess. In the last month or two I've really slowed the accumulation and selling of cards. At a high I probably had around 35,000, which is still nothing compared to some crazy collectors out there.

If you're still looking for MTG cards, I have a bulk amount I am looking to get rid of. I tried to send you a PM however it informed me that your box is full and you need to clear more space before receiving any new PMs. I've got around 3,000 cards, 250+ of which are rares. I have a list of the rares typed up if you're interested I can send that to you once you have some free space in your inbox.

Enough for two players?
Hey names Matt, Actually you would be better off purchasing two deck boxes! (usually ten dollars for a beginners deck target has um!) especially for a fair fun game and rule books. Magic is actually pretty complex and takes a good minute to go over. The organized rule books will have you up and playing a game in no time though. Starters usually include random cards so one person can attempt to make a deck customized by them personally, two decks is better for two people, and may even save you money!

Woops sorry my last post was meant for a different thread
I am looking to buy magic cards as well! The kids at camp love to play and it would be an awesome surprise to be able to give them some cards and I am willing to pay as well! Please contact me if your looking to give cards regardless of value or what they do. Some kids just stack them in two piles and play. You can find me on facebook- Nicholas Mathew gates. - My real name is Matthew, but that's a pen name for writing and you can find me there and message me. I will send money via paypal and I can receive your message by nightfall typically when I get out of work. Eviltwin5559 Is my email

That's insane. Were someone to try actually participating in such a system, there's nothing stopping you from sending it on without donating to the people above you. Worse, why not just go create 5 new email addresses, and re-send it with yourself in all five spots?
Who falls for this stuff? |

Thought I'd bump this in case anyone is still subscribed. I used to play pretty heavily for a couple years in the early 90's. Mostly 3rd edition, but I have some betas of (what were then) low-end cards. Apparently even the low-end cards are worth something now.
Kind of frustrating. SOMEONE would want these, and I could use the money (my 6-year-old computer is on it's last legs, and I need to upgrade/repair), but I have no idea how to connect with a buyer. I live in Hooterville these days, and don't get out much due to illness, or I'd go to a tournament and make some contacts. I have a beta Birds of Paradise that guides in the neighborhood of $1,000 mint. It's in played condition and no one REALLY goes by the guides, so I would let it go for far, far less, though still 3 figures. Most are in played condition, as I was a player, not a collector. NONE are in what I would call bad or unplayable condition-no stains, rips, creases, or obvious wear that would distinguish it from other cards. Some are near-mint/mint - though not the betas. Also in beta: Flashfires, Disintegrate x2, giant growth, shatter x2, earthbind x3, and a standard forest. In Legends, I have a Chain Lightning, Lifeblood, and 4 Wolverine packs 3rd edition: Birds of paradise x2, mind twist x2, Sol Ring x2, various and sundry cards like Kird Apes, Serra Angels, Sengir Vampires, White Knights, Dragon Whelps, etc. No lands. I have more, but there's only about 120 MTG cards in total. On the fun side, I have both halves of a B.F.M., Arena and Windseeker Centaur (both of which you could only get by buying MTG novels, AFAIK), an Equinox in Italian, and nine autographed cards by 3 different artists which I sent away to be signed. Not a complete accounting, but should give you an idea. If I get interest, I'll send a complete list. I can scan important cards like the beta Birds and send a pic. I have a Topps Traded Barry Bonds card from 1986, a Mario Lemuiex 1986 Topps, and a complete set of sportflics Upper Deck cards from the 1994 All-star game, which were only available at the Fan-Fest (limited to 10,000 sets). All kept in plastic cases/boxes. These could be had for anything that makes it worthwhile to go to the post office. I have thousands of MTG cards sitting in a dry, safe place - about a thousand miles away from here. Can't get 'em right now though. Too much to ship, too far to drive. Gah!
