I Need Help - Financial Help

Hello,

With the approval of the administration and moderators I would like to ask for some assistance this holiday: Christmas 2019.

I have been battling stress and depression for a couple of years and have been off work, living on savings. I've been in a good place for many months now and have been job hunting for about six months with no luck. I've had a couple of interviews, but nothing yet.

I just picked up some part time seasonal work at a provincial liquor store (LCBO) but it's not enough to cover the bills this month.

Any assistance you great folks could provide would be more than greatly appreciated. My kids are 22 and 20 now, but I'd still like to do a little something for them.

And listen, I know this is begging for help. If you don't agree with my request, then please ignore it and move on. I don't want to be pitted because I'm looking for help.

Thank you friends. I will pay it forward.

I hope the link works. I'm new at this.

Thanks,
Doug

I'd like a 2-4 of Elsinore, Eh? Uh, that will be like, 'No Charge', Eh? I found a mouse in a bottle!

Best wishes!

I've helped, but you have to agree to let us live with you if the coming election doesn't go our way.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

Please come visit! Our PM is probably too left-winged, but he seems like a genuine bloke.

Leaffan, have you investigated whether there are any food banks or food pantries in the vicinity?

Our local power company (Northern California) offers discounted service for those who meet their income criteria.

I believe it is possible to get discounted internet service based on income, although I'm less certain about that one.

It sounds like you're emerging from this down period in your life. Depression is no joke. Good luck to you.

Best wishes. Those donating should remember the donations are in Canadian dollars. So if you want to contribute $50 U.S. then that would be $66.42 Canadian dollars--and $66.42 is what you would enter in the donation box.

working on it.
Has anyone else had trouble with GoFundMe not liking their card?
I just had 2 rejected, which work for other things. I will get it through somehow.

Idk about GoFundMe, but yesterday I had 3 cards rejected by Hulu (~$2). An hour later, Chase emailed me that they had rejected the charge because they thought was fraudulent (because it was so small, it was flagged as suspicious).

If you start a Gofundme, I'll happily contribute to yours as much as I did to Leaffan's

Listen up pilgrim, I ain't never gave no man anything for free, and I ain't about to start with you. I ain't given you a donation, you earned that money pilgrim, and if you need me to tell ya how you earned it, well, I got a milkin shed that needs cleanin out.</John Wayne>

On a more solemn note, I'd do more if I could, but I did what I can.

Finally!
I had a lot of trouble with GoFundMe accepting my cards. I finally found one that they accepted. The turned up their digital nose at both Discover and MC. They took VISA. I checked with them and with Discover and neither had an answer. But, I persevered and got it through. I hope this makes Christmas a little less stressful for Leaffan.

A few years ago, this community helped me in a similar situation. I remember crying as I scrounged two packets of ramen and some canned vegetables for dinner for the kids, and the last of my flour, butter, and eggs to make muffins for the kids for breakfast.

And the Dope came through. I am in a better situation now. Not rich, but we have food, and can pay the monthly bills, and I am so grateful to be able to pay it forward in small increments.

Remind me next month, please, if you need a little more.
