What's the Most Recent R-rated Movie You've Seen?

(Inspired by thread about people's first R-rated film, and the realization that I haven't seen one in a long time.)

Good question. In theaters, it would be Deadpool 2, I think -- I tend not to go to the movies unless it's my wife wanting to see the latest superhero or Star Wars flick (which tend to be PG13)

Probably, almost certainly, seen something more recently on streaming but I couldn't tell you what.

I stopped seeing movies in the theater over ten years ago, but I watch a lot of streaming movies. I do not, however, even think about the MPAA rating. No idea what I watch is G, PG-13, or R.

I had to call up a list, because I don't notice the ratings much anymore. Turns out it was the new "A Star is Born." I don't recall anything in the movie that would justify an R rating, maybe some nakedness. Also seen relatively recently, Deadpool I and II, and Mary Queen of Scots.

ETA: I had no idea Rocket Man was R. So, that's my new answer.

In a theater, Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood.

At home, My Cousin Vinny. I'd only seen bits and pieces of it before and finally watched it beginning to end.

Wheelman on Netflix. An OK movie, but not amazing. I saw The Perfection before that(also on Netflix) and it was more interesting.

Deadpool II at home. I don't know what the last Rated R movie I saw in the theater was.

By either release date or when I saw it, my answer would be Deadpool 2.

More recently, I saw two hours worth of Bohemian Rhapsody, but that was the first 40 minutes three times, so that probably doesn't count (and also didn't include any content that would warrant an R).

I don't watch movies all that often, and the last couple I watched definitely weren't R rated. I'm guessing the last R rated move I watched might have been The Shape of Water, which I re-watched on video last Christmas because my parents wanted to watch it.

I go to the theater even less often, and most of the time when I do it's for stuff like Star Wars movies where the special effects make the big screen worthwhile. I think the last R rated film I saw in a theater might have been Lady Bird, which I saw at the Tower Theater in Sacramento, mostly for the fun of watching a movie set in Sacramento at a landmark that briefly appeared in the movie.

Coincidentally both movies I mentioned were 2017 Oscar nominees.

You know, when I decide whether or not to see a movie, the rating never crosses my mind. Looking thru the thread, I saw OUATIH last weekend, so that would be it.

Couldn't have told you the rating before reading the thread.

Venom or Deadpool 2 or John Wick, one of those. I think Deadpool 2 was most recent, but it was all on telly so not sure.

Rocketman, in the theater a few weeks ago.

Comparing to Bohemian Rhapsody, which covered very similar themes, I suspect that Rocketman got an R for more explicit depictions of drug use, and fouler language, including one of my favorite lines, by Elton:

In a theatre: no idea; other than taking my daughter to see the new Toy Story a few weeks ago, I haven't seen a movie in a theatre in a while.

At home: my wife and I just watched The Favourite. Without checking I'm not sure of the rating, but suspect it was R due to adult themes and, well, Emma Stone's boobies.

I Saw The Devil - definitely an R-rated movie

Gist: Immediately see this movie. It is an incredible experience and one of the best movies I have seen recently.

I Saw The Devil is a movie about revenge. Oh, come on, saying that is like saying that Star Wars is about spaceships. The truth is that a movie like I Saw The Devil need to be seen to be understood. It isn’t just a movie; it’s a journey and an experience. By the time the screen goes dark and the credits come up, you find yourself...sitting there contemplating everything. Your life, what you would do if you were in this movie, why you watch things like this(ha ha).

ISTD is a movie about a man getting revenge for the murder of his fiance. By revenge, we don’t mean killing or capturing the criminal. We mean capturing and abusing the criminal, only to let him go and do it again. A very simple plot for a very well acted and filmed movie. I will not forget many sequences in this movie for some time to come. There were many cringe worthy moments, but also moments of cheering and fist-pumping. It is both exhilarating and exhausting.

This is definitely the kind of movie that sticks with you after you watch it. A great movie well worth the time of anyone. See it now.

Extra spaces don't compute, apparently.

Another for Bohemian Rhapsody.

A mini-series probably doesn't count, but I watched the 8-part Das Boot on Hulu this week, which had language, violence, gore, sex, nudity and rape.

At home, probably BlacKkKlansman (released in August last year, watched in May this year). At a movie theater, God only knows. It's been over 20 years since I saw any movie in a theater.

I watched the 2001 remake of Straw Dogs on Netflix this weekend.

In theaters...although I've watched several of the 2018 movies on this list of R-Rated movies that did reasonably well at the box office, I didn't watch them in theaters, so that makes IT the most recent there.

I only see Disney movies in cinemas these days, (i.e. incl Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar etc) so no R rated that I can recall in many a year. However I did watch Game Night the other day. That's R apparently, though I really don't know why it was. A bit gory, in a tame way, and lots of naughty words, I guess. The US ratings system is a real mess.

Last I saw: I, Tonya for "free" in the theater of a cruise ship

Last I saw in a typical theater: Logan

Last I saw tiny bits of: After going to a soccer game with my sister over the weekend, I stopped by her house for a few minutes to say hi to my college-age niece. The niece and her boyfriend were watching Rosemary's Baby and paused it while I was there. The movie was paused on a scene with the camera at the head of a bed, looking over a supine and very R-rated Rosemary at a bunch of other people who'd be borderline X-rated if they weren't in the shadows. I've never seen the movie before, but a little research tells me I'm really glad they didn't hit play while I was there.

I went to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood last week, but I walked out after an hour and a half it was so boring. I'm guessing it still counts even though I didn't finish it. I don't recall the most recent prior to that. It's been years, maybe a decade. Maybe Superbad?

Theatrically, Rocketman. Which, now that I think of it, really shouldn't have been Rated R. I guess from swearing and drug references maybe.

Yeah. I don't know why Annihilation, Hotel Artemis, Greta, Manchester by the Sea, Molly's Game or Adult Beginners are rated R either, when a lot of fairly violent thrillers/horror movies like Shut In, Happy Death Day, Cloverfield or The Unborn get PG-13.

I see very few movies these days. The combination of small children and a hectic work schedule limits my time for entertainment. Probably the last R movie I saw was Deadpool 2.
