I'm thinking a perjury trap could be any question... "So, what did you have for breakfast?"

Are you seriously asking how a gigantic media company that broadcasts and writes to millions of people on TV and online is going to announce something to the world without Twitter?

#1 sounds more plausible than CT-heavy #2, obviously, but why they haven't promoted this if their intent is to make a point?

So... who knows!
Possibility number 3: Its an experiment to measure the extent to which their twitter presence affects their other aspects of their business model. Take a week of Twitter, and then get back on, and see what, if any, sharp spikes there are in viewership etc.

This is purely my idea, and I have no evidence that this is what they are doing, but it does fit the facts. They wouldn't want to publicize it or else your viewership or whatever would be affected by this announcement and so ruin the experiment. I think its slightly more plausible than the other two possibilities.

This might also explain why some hosts remain on twitter and others don't. Case versus control.

More to the point, if you or I were subpoenaed, how far do you think we’d get whining about “perjury traps”?

Sage Rat, a "perjury trap" is when a prosecutor attempts to deliberately lure a witness into telling a lie in order to charge them with a crime, when there is no legitimate basis to call that witness to testify in a case. It is a form of entrapment. So yeah, I'd say your interpretation is correct in this instance.

Like the term, "unmasking," the term, "perjury trap" is usually thrown around in an effort to inflame angry feelings and a sense of unfairness. It is rarely a successful defense.

I don't think Mueller plays like that. Put it this way: If I were a bettin' girl, I wouldn't put ready money on Corsi having been entirely truthful in his testimony, or that Mueller doesn't have the goods to prove it.

It's not about the question, it's about the answer.

"So, what did you have for Breakfast?"

I was just considering the implications of the fact that the FBI was investigating Whitaker within days of his appointment to Acting Attorney General.

Who decided to start that investigation? Did it start in the DOJ or within the FBI itself?

I feel like this was a proactive move by Christopher Wray, to be able to hold over Whitaker and force him to play it straight.

If so, then on the one hand, good on Wray. On the other hand, that means that the FBI is using extortion to serve its own political agenda. So yay?

But it would be curious to know if Rosenstein, Sessions, or someone else initiated the probe. I'd love it if Sessions did it. Maybe he decided to voluntarily step down, knowing what the plan was for his replacement, and figured that he could dick Trump over more by screwing with Whitaker after-the-fact than by letting himself be fired and having the normal line of succession go through.

As I understand it, the FBI investigation into Whitaker's company has been ongoing since at least last year.

The FTC’s action was a civil proceeding. The existence of a continuing FBI investigation indicates that the FBI is also looking into criminal charges. I'm not sure how I missed a "Professor Misfud" in this clusterfuck. We are approaching comic book level stupidity in this administration.

Mifsud was allegedly the link between Papadop and Russian intelligence personnel with access to hacked emails. After the Russia investigation began in earnest he disappeared and was presumed by some people to be dead.

Apparently he has now resurfaced and wants to talk. Should be interesting.

Not only that, but IIRC, Papadop is suspected by Mueller of delaying the FBI's investigation so that Mifsud had time to flee.

So...

1. Mifsud returns!
2. Papadops lawyers file to quit!

While I am sure the universe is full of wonder and mystery beyond human imagination, I'm not a big believer of coincidences of timing involving developments in legal proceedings. I would not want to be George "Covfefe boy" Papadopolous right now.

How about Business insider?
Quote:
Former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos' defense lawyers filed a motion withdrawing from representing him on Tuesday.

They said in the court filing they were dropping out because "the criminal case [against Papadopoulos] has concluded, and the time for Mr. Papadopoulos to file an appeal has passed."

DOJ veterans tell INSIDER that it's unusual for lawyers to file such a motion.
Instead, they said Papadopoulos' lawyers likely withdrew from representing him for one of two reasons: because they wanted to distance themselves from him as he spreads unfounded conspiracy theories, or because Papadopoulos is actively considering withdrawing his guilty plea.

It has been reported elsewhere, but not heavily. The linked article has a link to the motion to withdraw, but access to the document appears to be blocked from the U.S.

The correct spelling appears to be "Mifsud." A google search of mifsud papadopoulos in the last 24 hours doesn't pull up any MSM sources... but plenty of questionable ones. <shrug>

Regarding their reasons for withdrawing, there might be a hint in a statement from one of his attorneys in September when asked about some of Papadop's tweets: "Most of our clients listen and follow all of our advice, some follow most of our advice, some follow some of our advice, some follow none of our advice."

Yes, the withdrawal is a matter of public record. Professor Mifsud's reappearance is the bit.

You're right to be suspicious though... I would like to have confirmation from the Senate side, to be honest.

Sen. Jeff Flake, lame duck from Arizona, announced today that he will use his position on the Senate Judiciary Committee to block any nominees until Mitch McConnell allows a Mueller Protection bill to come to the floor for a vote.

This is a bold move -- practically Profiles in Courage-ish, for this congress. Of course his courageous stand is only effective for the next month or so, so I don't see any reason McConnell can't just wait until the next Congress is sworn in, without Flake.

Jeff Flake could have derailed the Kavanaugh nomination with a 'No' vote in committee hearings in September, but he didn't, even though he was already a lame duck.

Vlad has never been on the Trump team. Vlad has always been the captain of Team Chaos, and Trump has been the biggest tool [sic] in his toolbox of shitstirring. Thus far supporting Trump has been the best way to weaken America but the time is coming when bringing him down will be the better play from his perspective. It's all about the best timing from Russia's standpoint.

It's all part of the plan to get you to bring factories back to America.
