Thisclose to winning $270 million.

Checked my Powerball ticket Sunday morning. Noticed I had the power ball number, 26. And the first 2 numbers, 2 and 10. My next number was 52, the number drawn was 25. Check my state's site, I won $40. Then something caught my eye. The last 2 numbers on my ticket were 66 and 67. That matched the number's drawn. I didn't win $40, I won $50,000. Woo hoo!!! Easily the most I have ever won. Stopped by my state's lottery office yesterday and walked out with a check for $38,000. If only my 52 was a 25.

Cograts. Probably need to slide another 8 grand to the side for taxes.

Hoo boy, have I got an investment opportunity for you...

My MIL used to crack me up when she bought lottery tickets (this is 30-some years ago.) She worried that if she won big, someone would kidnap my daughter and hold her for ransom to get the winnings! I guess lucky for my daughter, her grandma never hit for more than $75.

Congrats! Do you have fun plans for your windfall, or something boring like paying bills and saving the rest?

Good job! I scratched off $2. Got a doubler sign, whoo-hoo! $4!! I never win anything big
ETA. I took the $4 and bought 4 more scratch offs. Nada!

Congrats! That's a lot of money. I won $150 once on the Mega Millions as I had the first four numbers right and a similar thing as you on the last couple numbers...and the jackpot at that time was like $400 million. When I saw the first four numbers match, my heart started to race. The power of money I guess.

Don't laugh. Not long ago a guy in my neighborhood was murdered by his family for his lottery winnings.

I must admit to feeling a spark of jealousy when I realized you live just a few towns over from me but that soon passed. I'm glad for you and hope you get a lot of enjoyment from your windfall.

Congrats!

I get a Power Ball ticket every week at the place up the street. A couple of weeks ago someone won a 100 grand on a scratch ticket there. Now I'm afraid they sucked all the luck out of the store.

That must not be a common opinion because, around here at least, stores plaster "$10,000 winner sold here" signs all over their windows. So apparently most people think luck comes in droves, I guess.

I've heard about stuff like this, but it still struck me as funny that her first thought was kidnapping, not VACATION!! or NEW HOUSE!! or something similar. Heck, she didn't even consider that mayhem might befall her own sons!

Pardon my ignorance (winning giant sums of money in the lottery isn't my forte ), but I thought the taxes is why racer walked out with just 35. If it wasn't for the taxes, why the lesser amount?

I realize that. It hardly matters either way because nothing I or they do is giving us a reasonable chance of winning.

Depending on his tax bracket and state taxes, he may end up owing more.

I walked out with $38,000. That was a 24% tax bite from the feds. No state income tax in Washington. Put away another $5000 for taxes.

Wow, congrats!

The most I ever got was....$7. And I was informed by the clerk that for some reason it didn't register with the machine, so I had to take my ticket to lottery officials to get the money. Nope, just discarded it.

I once bought a scratch-off ticket and won $2. I used the $2 to buy 2 more tickets and I won $4. So I used the $4 to buy 4 more tickets, and I won $10,000!
I thought, "Oh great, now I'm gonna be here all day."

actually, the aunt has won 300 from a ca scratcher ...... but her luckiest win was One day we were at the mall paying bills when you could still pay for credit cards in store .. and we didnt have money for lunch or gas to go home on really so my aunt figured "oh what the hell " turned in her last 4 quarters for a buck bought one of the "triple 8" scratchers you could win 8,88,or 888 bucks depending on which 3 you matched she had 3 88's but they had a thing if you scratched off a side box and seen a star the prize would double ....... so we got lunch gas and had enough to help pay a bill ......

Nice! Congratulations. The best I have ever done was $500 off a stocking stuffer scratch off.

Racer, congrats!

However, you have already broken the first and second rules of lottery winnings. Don't talk about winning the lottery.

She obviously looked at her sons, and decided your daughter was the one the kidnappers knew she would pay for.

since the numbers are (supposedly) random, your ticket was in fact no closer or farther away from winning $270 million dollars than any other ticket that did not match all the numbers. So don't worry about that too much.
