I think the Tuvix (Voyager) outcry is stupid...

...but I'm not here to argue that. HA GOTCHA!! CLICKBAIT!!

Seriously though. I think the subject is much better handled in DS9's "Children of Time".

But I'm not really here to talk about *that*. I have a very simple question: Let's say that the 'Children of Time' peeps had died out by the time the Defiant crew discovered their existence. Do the Defiant crew STILL have a duty to stay, get thrown back in time and foster a small town?

IOW: Is it murder to wipe out dead people? I think you could argue yes. Some species don't perceive time as linear.

ok....if you want to talk about Tuvix a little. The whole premise is flawed. His premise is that Tuvok and Neelix are dead. Well they certainly arn't since it was relatively easy to bring them back. AND we get no evidence that the two think so or that they wern't aware of the symbiosis. There's no chastisement to Janeway...no "whaaaaa....last thing i remember..."

On the rare occasions it happens, is it murder to remove a healthy trill 'slug' from a healthy host?? The combined two are certainly different from the separated two, its just not as evident.

Really...I think if you combine the Voyager idea of one or two crewmen with my altered DS9 idea of 'is wiping out dead peoples timeline murder?' you'd have the most interesting dilemma.

Didn't Spock leaving his Cotra(or however its spelled) in Bones head teach them folks anything.
Two entities in one bod don't quite work out.

IMO.

I've been reading modern(ish) discussions of Tuvix...and unsurprisingly, the nature of the debate has turned from "was it murder' to " it ignores consent" and "is an unconscious analogy for trans rights"

I actually find those more interesting questions then 'was it murder"
