Yes, and I've also eaten corned beef and cabbage NOT on St. Patrick's Day.

Have you ever protested at a St. Patrick's Day parade?

Yes, during the whole "Gays can't march in the NYC St. Patrick's Day parade."

Yes, when I lived on the streets...but I had permission from the attendant because it was after hours and my shirt was ripped.

HYE drank green beer?

Yes, both the kind that has only undergone primary fermentation, and the food coloring in one's Coors Lite sort

HYE drank wine out of a Styrofoam cup?

I'm sure I have, although I don't have a specific recollection. I do recall drinking bad wine from Dixie Riddle Cups in the late 1970s.

Have you ever taken a beer into the shower with you (or wine, but that seems wrong)?

I don't drink. But I used to clean my sons bachelor pad and I often removed beer cans from the bathroom and shower. Thought it was weird. I'm now informed it's a thing. Hmmm?

HYE cleaned someone else's house? Not as a paid housekeeper but as a favor?

Yes, my parent's elderly neighbor and good family friend lost his wife of 60 years and ended up permanently moving into a nursing home due to the same car accident. Their children all lived far out of the area and offered to pay us to clean up their house and prep it for sale. We declined their offer of payment but did clean it for them. Very sad situation - they were good folks.

HYE worked as a paid housekeeper or custodian?

Yes I have. Someone keeps dumping their trash on our road. Granted, unless you know you might not think someone lives down here. But still, people take responsibility for your garbage. Dump in appropriate places, please. So rude.

HYE dumpster dove (dived)?

Yes, many times at construction sites when I was still working. I still have a fine supply of odd-sized plywood, 2x4s, PVC pipe, etc.

HYE picked up a perfectly usable item that was abandoned/forgotten in a public place?

Yes, when I was in college, and for a few years afterward, my entire apartment was furnished with other people's trash. It's amazing what a coat of paint or a throw can accomplish.

Yes, every time I teach grammar and coordinating conjunctions, I go over the section in the textbook that uses the acronym FANBOYS (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) No matter how many times I explain it, some slow students still say "duh?"

Have you ever mangled/misspoken an acronym and confused others around you, or yourself?

Yes. I thought 'lol' meant 'loads of laughter'. I actually convinced a few folks it was true, even after I knew better.

HYE called someone you knew really well the wrong name for no good reason? Just a brain fart or something.

Yes. I once called a friend named Blair, "Brad." He looked around and asked, "Who are you talking to?" It was indeed a brain fart.

Every year in elementary school the students would each plant a tree during the springtime in the empty field between the playground and the adjacent subdivision. Jump ahead 45 years and the school cut down the now mature wooded lot to placate the neighbors because delinquent teens were hiding out there doing stuff they shouldn't.

HYE returned to a place you had fond memories of many years ago only to find it had been ruined?

Yes. In one of the campus buildings where I did my undergrad was a small, unobtrusive coffee shop that was a little bit out of the ordinary. It sold coffee, of course, but also gum, candy, chips and snacks, cigarettes, and for some strange reason, universtity-branded athletic wear (T-shirts, sweat pants, and so on). No baked goods or donuts or other typical coffee shop eats. It had a few tables, and one was always occupied by my friends and me in the afternoons. I drank more coffee there than possibly anywhere else on campus. Great times!

Go forward maybe thirty years. I was back in town, and wandering through the campus. I thought I might get some coffee where I always used to. Nope, it was no longer there. It hadn't been open for years, I learned, and was now used for storage. I got some coffee elsewhere on campus, but it just wasn't the same.

Have you ever gone back to visit your school(s)?

Yes. After five years, at the reunion, we found that the Big Man on Campus was still the Big Man on Campus, and was still dating the Head Cheerleader. All of us, of both sexes, were envious of him and her. A couple of years later, they married. A few years ago, at a reunion, I found that they divorced, rather acrimoniously. All I could think of was Billy Joel's "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant."

Have you ever had a meal in an Italian restaurant?

Is it too much to ask that we give people who might be able to answer "yes" a chance to respond before dumping the current question with a simple "no"?

I witnessed a a nasty fight involving about 10 people at a Wendy's in Seattle back in the mid 80's.

To reiterate the game rules, from post # 1, "All answers should be "yes," followed by the next question." And then the modification in post 230: "As the OP who has been following the thread, I'll modify things a bit to allow for "no, but I've done something close enough."

Yes, in fact I have a coupon right now for a free Big Mac or other large sandwich. They give them out to blood donors at blood drives in our area so they're not exactly free--in other words I've paid for those Big Macs with my blood

Re. "HYE touched a wild animal (in its natural habitat) deer-sized or larger?", I've been close enough to a fawn to touch it but didn't touch it, being warned that the doe might be alarmed by smelling my touch on the fawn.

Yes. I do community theatre, so I've memorized and performed many lines, speeches, and even songs in musical theatre. I also remember back in school, having to memorize Shelley's "Ozymandias," and recite it before the class.

Have you ever auditioned for anything?

Kinda sorta. I walked into my usual watering hole one night, and the place went silent. Then they all shouted, "Spoons!" A little like "Norm!" on "Cheers."

Apparently, I was "Patron of the Month," which, in my experience at this pub, I knew was all done in fun. At any rate, I was comped drinks that night, and got lots of best wishes from other regulars. It was indeed a surprise, though.

Have you ever been comped anything?

Yes, and I was the surprised party. I wasn't actually displeased with the idea of a party but I was dead tired and looking forward to nothing more exciting than collapsing in my own bed.

Yes. I took a pot of my chili to a potluck, only to find that there were five other pots of chili. Mine was so far back in line that it wasn't touched. Oh well, I got to take it home and eat it all over a few days.

Yes, my in-laws always ask "would you please make the flounder again?" every time they come for a visit. I make a mean crab imperial stuffed flounder. The thing is though, I don't have a written recipe - I just sort of throw it together - so no two of my stuffed flounders are ever the same.

Yes. The first dinner I made for my gf was osso bucco. It was heavenly. She had seconds. We went through two bottles of wine with the meal. It wasn't until after dessert that she found out the shanks were veal shanks, and she has ethical qualms with eating veal.

Yes, I made soup for some friends once and, although they were polite, I could tell it was a flop.

My parents have a longstanding rule, BTW: when my mom asks, "Did you like it?", my dad is expected to say "Yes, of course!" But when she asks, "Should I make it again?", then he can be honest.

HYE known of a couple who had a rule like that?

Yes, sort of: my parents. Mom was a lousy cook, but Dad was a good one. Dad was always polite though, so when Mom tried something on her own, Dad would say "That was nice, but you need to add X, a little less Y, and don't forget the Z." Or similar, up to and including, "Maybe you shouldn't try that again."

Have you ever been invited to a holiday dinner* at a relative's, only to be disappointed in what you got?

*Define "holiday" however you like. I'm thinking Thanksgiving or Christmas or Easter, but it could include any holiday on the calendar.

Yes, my sister once had a bunch of us over for Thanksgiving. She's a pretty good cook. Her time management wasn't very good. Her late lunch turned into early supper. Most folks were pretty drunk by then. Being a tee-totaller I wasn't, so me and all the kids were left to critique the food with clear heads. It was pretty bad. Somehow hot pepper got into the cranberry sauce. After the meal people started leaving. I took all the kids home with me as the only sober adult. We ordered pizza. It has gone down in family lore as one of the best Thanksgiving meals ever. My sister preens at that, I just groan.

HYE been the only sober person in a group of drunk people,at an event?
