In Toy Story, Buzz Lightyear (voice of Tim Allen) encounters a "Binford" tool box. "Binford Tools" was the sponsor of "Tool Time", the show-within-a-show hosted by Tim Taylor (played by Tim Allen) on Home Improvement.

Tim's mother in law on HOME IMPROVEMENT was played by Polly Holliday, Alabama born actress best known for playing Flo (full name Florence Jean Castleberry), the big haired multimarried waitress with the "Kiss my grits!" catchphrase, on ALICE and in the short lived spinoff Flo's Yellow Rose.

Juliet Mills, daughter of Oscar winner Sir John Mills and sister of child star Hayley Mills (Pollyanna, The Parent Trap), is what is today known as a "cougar"; her husband of 29 years, actor Maxwell Caulfield, is 18 years her junior.

Rrrr! Go Juliet!

The term "Pollyanna" now usually means someone whose optimism is excessive to the point of naivete or refusing to accept the facts of an unfortunate situation.

Indeed- this is him the year they married.

FOR PLAY:

The original Disney movie of Pollyanna featured veteran actors Agnes Moorehead, Adolphe Menjou and Jane Wyman; a mostly black cast remake featured Butterfly McQueen, Brock Peters and Phylicia Ayes Allen-Rashad in the same roles.

Buttermilk's distinctive taste comes from it being fermented. It was traditionally popular in warm climates such as the American South because it spoiled more slowly than regular milk.

Abraham Lincoln is claimed by three states: Kentucky (where he was born), Indiana (where he grew up), and Illinois (where he lived as an adult).

S.O.S Pads, now manufactured by Clorox Corp, were intentionally named with the final period missing, so that the name could be trademarked. The name stands for "Save Our Saucepans".

Harold Bride and Jack Phillips, the wireless operators for the Titanic, sent both CQD and SOS as distress signals; Phillips died in the sinking but Bride managed to swim to a lifeboat.

Morgan Robertson's 1898 book Futility, or the Wreck of the Titan depicts a shipwreck with an eerie amount of similarities with the Titanic.

Entertainer Sammy Davis, Jr. converted to Judaism following his recovery from a car accident in 1954 in which he lost one of his eyes. Davis's interest in the faith was spurred by stories of Jewish history that entertainer Eddie Cantor shared during convalescence visits.

Several countries' national days are not their independence days, like France, Libya, and Ireland (whose national day is the feast day of its patron saint)

Mexican beers like Corona are typically served with limes because originally the bottle caps were steel and would leave a ring of rust around the mouth.

Englishmen, especially sailors, got the nickname "Limeys" because of the Royal Navy's practice of serving them fresh limes to stave off scurvy.

E.L. Doctorow named the character of Coalhouse Walker, Jr. in Ragtime, played by Howard Rollins in the film and Brian Stokes Mitchell in the Broadway musical, after the character Kohlhaas in Tales of Hoffmann; he much later introduced the character of Coalhouse Walker, Sr., in his novel about Sherman's MARCH.
