Where is the cheapest place to get a PS3? Refurbished or used is fine.

I am a teacher and as I approach summer, I often look into getting some video games for me and my two kiddos(ages 8 and 10). Thing is, we are on a pretty tight budget. Two years ago, I sold books and other things to raise money to buy a Wii U and a copy of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Here we are two years later and the kids are, of course, two years older. I never picked up a PS3 during its entire run and am considering picking one up if I can get one cheap. I don't have a huge list of games I want for it, but I remember hearing it had quite the library of games to enjoy.

Perhaps I am crazy, but is it possible to get one for about $50 or so? I know they made several models and I don't care what version it is.

Anyone know how I can get one for not a lot of money? It might be old to everyone else, but we never had one so most of its library is new to us.

Have you checked out your local pawn shop? They're often a bit on the skeezy side, if you're not used to them, but they really are a great source for the best prices on games, guns and guitars. I picked up a PS4 at a pawn shop with only the lightest of dickering for $150; if they have a PS3 sitting on a shelf, they'll most likely be pleased to get rid of it.

Looking at Craigslist Pittsburgh, I see a bunch for between $50 and $150.

I've got one I'd be happy to give to you. The thing is, it doesn't have a power cord and I don't have a controller for it. So I'm not sure if it would be cheaper for you to just purchase a complete one at the pawn shop, rather than buying a power cord and controller.

PM me if you like.

Note you can do things like replace the original hard disk with a bigger/newer one. Also, via tricks like installing Retroarch you can enable compatibility with a LOT of old games.
