Jim Fowler has passed away at 87.

Host of Wild Kingdom for many years. You will remember Marlin Perkins saying: "It looked dangerous so we sent Jim on ahead."

"While I remain in the tiki hut with the native girls who bring me cool tea and bring release to my naked body, Jim will be jumping into the river, hopefully catching a crocodile."

"When my young assistant Jim was being attacked by the boa constrictor, he felt the squeeze. To be sure your family never feels the squeeze when you die like Jim is going to, here's a word from Mutual of Omaha..." OK, he never really said that but he could have.

Even as a child I recognized that Jim was a little too dedicated to his TV show than was good for his safety and/or had way too much confidence in Marlin's good judgment.

Shodan

Having shot the jaguar with a tranquilizing dart, Jim will climb down from the helicopter and tag the animal. The jaguar is awakening early...Jaguars can run at 45 miles an hour...Jim seems to be making about 46...

Johnny Carson routinely made those jokes:

"While Jim's in the rapids wrestling the mad bull rhinoceros, I'll be in the air-conditioned tent mixing these daiquiris and telling you about Mutual of Omaha."

It's been too long since I've seen one, but did Marlin every actually go on those trips?

Fleming Begaye, Navajo code talker, has died at the age of 97. Only 7 code talkers remain.

Also, dang about Peggy Lipton. I loved Mod Squad (never watched Twin Peaks).

Given that brain cancer didn't kill him (or even slow him down that much), I can't believe a broken hip will bring him down either.

I've had Tim on my list for years and years, uniquely I think. I considered dropping him several times, but I always stuck to my guns. This year loads of people had him, though, so that's slightly disappointing. But it's okay, I still get some points!

Bob Hawke, former Australian PM, at age 89.

He was on my list because he was quoted in December as saying he wouldn't make it to the election, which is in two days. Let's keep this on record for next time someone wants an example of a politician keeping their word.

Architect I.M. Pei is dead at 102.

Probably not on anyone's list, unless they were looking for a negative score.

Nope, can't get negative scores. People who die at 100 or older count zero points, regardless of how much older.

They can, however, count towards the "Quantity Not Quality" award. Also eligible for counting towards the "Inside Track with the Grim Reaper" award if they are unique picks.

Ah shit, I'm gonna grieve for this cat now! I have a picture of her taped to the wall at my workstation, so I'm basically looking at her all the time...I'm currently making the very same face.
