Quick question:

If I remember correctly, last year we conducted a supplemental draft after the regular draft, for owners to replace players who went on IR during last year's offseason (Edelman, Enunwa, Ware, Dixon, etc). I would like to do that again, and throw my name into it for Marquis Lee, who I'll be putting on IR as soon as it's available.

I'm all for it, but there have been complaints that the draft is too complex and one of the proposed simplifications was to eliminate the supplemental draft. I don't think anyone objected to cancelling it, so I think it's currently scrapped.

If we're voting, I vote yes, let's do it. I always found it to be a charming feature of this league.

The supplimental draft - it seemed like people were against it for the most part and wanted to kick it as part of simplifying the draft, so I just sort of short tracked it without an official vote and called for objections to just getting rid of it. Seemed like no one objected, so I figure we were just going to scrap it.

I think it only applied to people who were hurt after they were drafted anyway, right? Not just any player who was on hurt - if they were already out for the year when you drafted them that was your choice and it didn't come with an extra pick.

For 3.06, Callaway is just a talent pick here. Not even a homer thing. He had first round talent but off the field issues, and he's been looking quite good in preseason. He's third WR and it's usually hard to get production out of those, but I'll draft talent and hope something good comes of it eventually.

3.08 Marcus Murphy RB Buf

Need to build some RB depth, and Murphy is looking to get the #2 spot behind McCoy. In fact he is one ill-timed robery away from starting.

It was for people who were hurt after the season end and before the draft. It was a way to ameliorate the problem of offseason injuries. Last year, it was this:

1.04 Ellis [for Kenneth Dixon]
1.05 RNATB [for Spencer Ware]
1.06 Justin [for Julian Edelman]
1.08 Omni [for Tajae Sharpe]
1.09 Petey [for Quincy Enunwa]
1.12 Beef [For Cameron Meredith]
2.09 Petey [for Ryan Tannehill]

This year, looking at IR, it would simply be Marquis Lee and Hunter Henry, so two extra picks at the end. Rookies, or any player drafted already with an injury, like Guice, would be ineligible.

We did it last year, right after the real draft was completed and knocked it out in like 8 hours because it started at night. I didn't see any complaints or anything about it being a hassle or anything at all in that thread. Unless I'm missing something, it seems like a nothing sandwich to do. It's not a huge deal, given the talent left, but I never thought it was a problem.

Credit Card fraud, pot, ammo, and guns. What's not to like! They really better keep him and Josh Gordon (sorry JOSH GORDON) away from each other.

Bridgewater is a nice pick, I didn't realize he was unowned. They could give him a shot at starter in NO when Brees retires.

Draft is moving along at a good pace, and so far not many complications at all. We'll be done well ahead of the deadline. Good work.

I don't feel super strongly about it but I'm a soft No on the supplemental draft. We already have an Auction Draft, the Waiver Wire.

3.11 - Jordan Akins, TE, Hou. I thought Allison might drop to me, but this works fine.

I'm agnostic about the supplemental draft. I don't like it, but I took advantage of it last year so I'd feel bad about voting against. Beef, you're up.

I don't secretly like Allen, I just need to solve my backup QB situation. Rodgers is getting up there in age and I need the future settled, and I need to make sure someone is available to start if he goes down, and that derailed me last year, and carrying two backups who may get killed behind bad lines is better than one.

Allen is probably a bust, but if he does succeed, he has tremendous upside. He has the investment of his franchise and the opportunity that comes with it. Darnold is a much better bet, but taking a backup plan with high upside isn't a bad place to go with the last pick of the third round.

SenorBeef granted me assistant commissioner privileges in order to help look at the draft order and get everything straightened out so that players were visible within Yahoo during the draft. I've corrected the divisions to place teams based on where they were last year, placing Ol'Gaffer in the Midwest to replace Stringer since he took Stringer's draft slot. That puts Overly Sentimental in the Northeast Corridor to replace Varlos.

I've also fixed the schedule. I used Varlos' old manual schedule rules, for the most part. The schedule is formatted as follows:

Divisional weeks are week 1, 3, and 6, then 12, 13, 14 to close out the season. The two triplets are formatted based on last season's finish in the division: 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3, then 1 vs. 3 and 2 vs. 4, finally 1 vs. 2 and 3 vs. 4. This last one will close out the season, which was a fun wrinkle when Varlos set it that way.

Non-divisional weeks are therefore 2. 4. 5. and 7-11. These weeks were formatted using a schedule generator online, which I have uploaded to Google Docs if anyone wants to see the template I used. This template is based on last year's finish in the division, so there is probably enough movement to use the same template each season. But I figured I'll just shift the non-divisional games down one week, skipping the divisional weeks (so week 2's format moves to week 4 the next season) each season to provide some variance.

I did not expect some of the players available to fall this far, so clearly you all have made some disastrous choices that will set your franchises back for generations. I was in danger of spending hours and hours on this pick, watching film, breaking down technique... but it's a flyer on a 5th round pick. Whatever, I'll swing for upside.

Pick 5.01 D.J. Chark, WR, Jax

Dang, that's gotta be frustrating. If only you'd cut a couple more players, you could have had 6th and 7th round picks and really picked up some gems.

Forgive the OCD, but 6 minutes after I posted the most recent review I noticed that the team abbreviation capitalization is all over the place, and that's my fault due to my spreadsheet using all caps for teams. So here's an update with that corrected.

The way everyone here has been drafting trash, I probably would have. My draft reviews are going to be fun. Spoiler: You guys all fucked up.

Well, it was too good to last. My last guy was scooped before I could pick. Thanks, Omni.

I think I gotta take a guy I'm more than willing to cut after week one in case I want to pick up someone else. So, it's hard to find someone easier to cut than:

5.02 Allen Hurns, WR, Dallas.

I'll PM Justin

Mother fuckers.

I had 3 guys on my list after my last pick. Hurst, Hines and Chark. I figured Iíd get at least 1 and maybe 2 with my final picks. And here I sit with no god damn clue who to take.

Iím seeing a show here tonight and am getting up at the crack of dawn to go to a college game tomorrow. Might not be able to figure out a pick until sometime Sunday. Will do my best to squeeze it in sooner, but no promises. Sorry guys, blame Justin.

Hold up, he was already owned.

We can keep Justin's pick, but you'll have to do a repick before anyone else makes one.

Edit: Whoops, didn't see Omniscient jump in and thought it was Hamlet. Still, I ruin everything for everyone.

He showed up on the unopened list.

Give me Hayden Hurst instead.

Just kidding.

I'll take Ricky Seals Jones. Then let me picture Lucille Ball's TV husband putting an archeologist named after a dog into an envelope.
