Guess the Canes' bribe to the officials was bigger than the Caps'.

Canes win, force Game 7! And we got Mr. Game 7 on our team again.

HELL YEAH. Bishop and Rinne were the best players in that game, but both teams struggled through that one.

I'd also like to know exactly how Subban and Benn are goons. They're both a pair of pretty exciting, physical players, and I like them both a lot. I've never known either one to be particularly dirty, but both will fight, if that's your measure of a goon.

And ahhhhh, tasty. Two game 7s out of the first round. Even if the Stars had to play one of them, that would be a good ratio for me. I don't have to give a lesson or practice tomorrow night (thankfully music, not hockey, for all parties not involved at the time), so I'll just revel in the beauty of the sport tomorrow. As it is, that game 6 felt pretty close to a game 7, so it's even more satisfying.

My brother and I both would rather the Stars face either SJ or Colorado than the Blues (VGK seems the equivalent of the Blues, to me), but there's only one path: Continue to win 4 of your next 7 games GO STARS!

Tonight’s game 7 will be one to watch (if the Sharks show up for it and play like they can, that is) — which may not even be good enough against hs strong Vegas team

After Vegas's game 6's OT loss I told a friend I was going to say something that no one ever expected to hear from me: I felt sorry for Fleury. And then after the Stars game (GO STARS) I felt sorry for Pekka Rinne. Both goalies in both those games were amazing, incredible, and I'm always sorry to see a great goalie lose. HOWEVER, mostly I am happy for Ben Bishop today. And happy for three game 7s to enjoy which will be especially fun since I don't really care too much who wins them. (Leaning toward rooting against the Sharks however.)

have you seen our powerplay? If y'all want to win Game 7, put us on the power play for 60 minutes.

But seriously, why is Tim Peel a playpff ref?

Try being a Cleveland Indians fan. They last won the World Series the fall before I was born, and I'm 70.

It's the spring and the Leafs are out.

Sorry, Leaffan! I thought they really outplayed the Bruins.

I guess Tavares should have stuck with the Isles -- he might have made it to the second round.

Actual goons are a rarity in today's game, and goons by definition don't win the Art Ross or the Norris, because they can't play. If you're meaning something else by this, some context would be useful.

Yeah, that was a tough loss for Toronto. It really seemed they had a chance until late in the 3rd. I don't hate the Bruins, but I was rooting for the Leafs.

Wow, I don't usually root for SJ, but that move makes me hope they can put Vegas away in this major PP.

ETA: Hell yeah, from 3-0 to tied with 81 seconds left on the PP.

ETA2: Fuck, yes, 4-3 with 52 seconds left on the PP.

Sharks!

After game 4, it was looking pretty bleak.

Midway through the 3rd tonight, down 3-0, I had all but given up.

That was the craziest ending to any game I can remember...

Yeah, I mean four goals on one major? In playoffs? Unheard of!

One more game 7 tomorrow. I'm rooting for Canes. Wouldn't be bad if Caps continue, but they don't seem pumped enough. Either way, it's home teams win 100.00 so far in their series.

As I understand it, it isn't the Leafs' fault, but Bieber's. Next year, Leafs need to ask for a restraining order against him. Condolences, Leaffan.

Because it's more fun to have a team to root for, though easier on the blood pressure not to care too much, for the next round, I'm going to cheer for the Avalanche over the Sharks, because Colorado mountains are lovely, Boston over Columbus, 'cause I'm from the east coast, Islanders over the 'Canes (I hope) or the Caps, because the Islanders fan on the board is so charming. Stars over Blue Notes, because I already promised to "go Stars!".

Hoping that tonight's game is good!

Both Eakin and Pavelski were victimized by bad luck on the same play. Kids, do not attempt to bounce your head on the ice like it is some sort of basketball.

Aw, shucks... It's tough to be the lonely voice.

I'm with you on the Canes over the Caps for sure. I like Boston better than Columbus, but I have to think about the Isles next round, assuming they get past the Canes/Caps. I think Columbus would be easier to beat, but after what they did to the Bolts, I'm not sure.

As far as the West goes, I don't really know those teams, so I'll go with your picks.

Certainly some unique rooting going on there, and yes, probably easier on the blood pressure. Five seasons from now when the Canucks get in the play-offs again, take note of the lovely North Shore Mountains over Vancouver.

Wow I've never seen 4 goals scored on a major, play-offs or no. Quite the game when neither team you're rotting for still has you on the edge of seat and yelling. Bonkers.

Thank-you, Scabs, for perfectly addressing Rent's response.

Double overtime tonight.

Four minutes left in regulation time and the game is tied 3-3. Go 'Canes, keep the upset train a rollin'.

So, not only has every division winner crashed out in the first round, but:

Tampa lost in 4 games
Calgary lost in 5 games
Nashville lost in 6 games
Washington lost in 7 games

It should come as a surprise to no one that Justin Williams was involved in the winning goal. The guy just produces in a game 7 pressure cooker.
