Looks like a '69 or '70 Pontiac Grand Prix. Good catch.

Many thanks! When I saw it, my first thought was Monte Carlo, but when the pics I found didn't match up, I decided to just ask here. I shoulda dug a little deeper and I would have found it. Turns out I wasn't all that far off.

Cool car. Interesting that the owner took the name off the trunk lid.

The other day, in afternoon traffic, an Amphicar, When I first glanced at it I thought that was a weird shape for a car, then I saw the twin propellers under the bumper. Then the light changed and that was it. Hard top, or at least the top was up. Don't know if it was headed to some water.

A 5th Generation (68-70) Dodge Coronet 500 convertible. It was in a closed down gas station garage and the sheetrock roof had collapsed on it, but it didn't look like any damage was done to it.

My first thought was Gran Torino 70's era, but I'll have to do some checking.

edit - I see the responses above now. For some reason, my screen wasn't showing them. And I was wrong.

A 1st-gen Mazda Miata... with a huge whale tail on it. I wish I had my camera handy!

A 1980 Porsche 911 SC. Near a late model Porsche 911 type 991. The old 911s were so much smaller. The new ones have grown quite a bit.

It's happened all over the car industry, especially with cars that were originally marketed as small sporty or economy cars.

Compare a BMW 3 series from before 2006 (E46, E36, E30, etc.) to the more recent models. Look at how the Japanese economy cars like the Honda Civic or the Toyota Corolla have grown.

Saw something crazy - a pick-up truck pulling a full semi trailer. It had some weird adapter in the bed to mount it like a semi, but still...

A little bit ago I was behind a late-model Ford. It had a Union Jack license plate frame, and an English flag with 'England' next to it on the rear window.

I was behind him in my MG.

A 1971-80 International Scout II. It was ahead and I had to get off the freeway, so I couldn't see the grille to pin down the year.

The other day, I saw an ordinary SUV, but what made it interesting was the license plate from the Mexican state of Zacatecas. Only the second Mexican plate I've ever seen on the road here in Indiana - the other, several years ago, was from Jalisco.

Cherry red first generation (67-69) Chevy Camaro SS350 in amazing shape. I wonder why someone would driving that in the middle of a Boston winter, but good for him.

Thursday I saw a car too mundane to mention. What made it interesting was that it had a Tulalip Tribes license plate. I never knew tribal license plates existed.

A Bentley, looked like a Continential GT but I'm not sure. It looked a bit conspicuous in the icy Walmart parking lot last night.

A 1976 Triumph Spitfire. Dark blue with tan interior. No rust, new soft top, good hard top, perfect upholstery, runs good.

I just brought it home tonight.

Yesterday I saw an original 2-door Toyota FJ/Land Cruiser.

Both yesterday (heading away for the weekend) & today (coming home) I drove past a McLaren dealership; they had 4 in the parking lot out front.

My drive home from work today (North San Diego county to San Diego city) was unusually prolific. It's usually the regular commuter vehicles, with nothing more unusual than a Tesla, but today there was some cool stuff.

There was a new model Honda Civic Type R. I've only seen one of two of those on the road.

I saw a flat-bed truck carrying a mid- to late-1980s Porsche 911 Turbo with the slantnose treatment - a 930S. I say mid to late '80s not because I could identify the exact year, but because the slantnose version wasn't sold outside of Europe until 1985 and after. That's assuming this was the factory version, and not an aftermarket job.

Early in my commute, just after getting on the freeway, I saw a low orange wedge in my rearview mirror, and I stayed with it for about 10 miles until it exited - Lamborghini Huracan.

And then, just as I was pulling off the freeway, I fell in behind a 1993 Porsche Carrera RS America. I've seen it in my neighborhood before, so I assume it's local.

Not today, but I recently saw what I eventually and by pure chance I discovered to have been an El Camino. Or so I think: it did look like a muscle car had a baby with a pickup truck. This one had Arizona plates, was black with the POW-MIA pictures on the doors, and I saw it loading up on gas near Lyon (France).

I figured that, with all the car people in this thread, there might also be smoe motorsports fans. If you're at home today, and want to see some great racing on one of the worlds best circuits, you can stream the Bathurst 12 Hour free and legal.

The race started at 1.45 pm Eastern/10.45am Pacific in the US. i'll leave you to guess, from the name, how long it runs.

There are a couple of streams available. There's the official race website:
https://www.bathurst12hour.com.au/st...nal-streaming/
But I had some problems with the streaming on that site, and I couldn't get the video to show in fullscreen mode, so I'm using Motorsport TV from the UK:
https://uk.motorsport.tv/motorsportt...-12-hour/16856
As far as I can tell, the video and commentary are identical on the two sites. I also started a separate thread.

A 2nd generation (1953-56) Ford F-100, lowered. Or maybe they are really just that low. It looked like a work in process, but maybe all that was needed was the final paint job.

And a 1st generation Geo Tracker (1989-98) winter driver. It looked like piece of crap, but that's probably it's highest goal in life.

I saw several interesting cars on my commute this morning on highway 17/880. Not because of the models or vintage, but because they had a couple of inches of snow on their roofs and trunks. Guess the Santa Cruz Mountains got a little more than a "dusting" last night.

What appeared to be a first-gen Honda City, Southbound on I-45. Not something one sees in the Houston suburbs every day.

A perfectly ordinary white Prius, except that the body was covered in what looked like kid's drawings of faces. I couldn't tell if it was a custom printed skin or if they'd gone wild with permanent markers. (Are there even permanent markers that work on auto paint?)

Kind of the same in that it's weather related... I saw a Lamborghini Murcielago (which isn't particularly unusual) but it was in the middle of an all day serious rain storm outside of Los Angeles. The kind of rain where you can't see more than 100 yards in front of you. I just can't imagine who would wake up and say "Let's take the 600 HP supercar out in the pouring rain for a Costco trip".

I spotted an Eagle Summit this afternoon. Kind of a hatchback, not quite a minivan in red.

I might have seen one of those today too. I didn't recognize it at the time. I was on the interstate, and the weather was not very good, so I couldn't get a close look. I wanted to get a picture to post in this thread, but I couldn't get my phone out. The vehicle I saw was boxy like that and had a checkerboard grill like the MV-1 LX on the site. This one was covered in some kind of commercial paint job. Amazing if that's what I saw on the same day you posted about it.

I live in Iowa, and this afternoon, I was at a gas station and a fire truck pulled in - decorated with a Canadian flag and "ST. CATHARINES, ONTARIO" painted on both sides. I saw the driver filling it up and asked what the deal was, and he pointed at a small sign in the window advertising a company in Nebraska that he said built the truck, and he was delivering it.

That was cool. My dad is a retired FF, and I'll have to tell him about it.

The tumbledown gas station/repair shop up the street from me always has a collection of derelict vehicles around it. Yesterday I saw an old Land Rover of some kind. I don't know anything about Land Rovers, but after skimming Wikipedia, I guess it was a Series II or III. It was a two-door, painted dull green, and the rear was a fully enclosed hard top (think, an old panel back pickup). It was very spartan, with just two skimpy vinyl seats and and empty cargo area. It was pretty cool!

Two convertibles in light metallic blue, with white tops, at separate times today; one a '66 Chevy Impala, that other a '71 or '72 Mustang.
