Lamborghini Aventador, in black, this morning around 0830 in San Francisco on Geary Blvd., at the Chinese Consulate office.

Then later that night I went to AT&T Park, where the Giants won the pennant!!!

GO GIANTS!!!

(And oh yeah in front of the ballpark before the game there was a sport bike (motorcycle) painted in SF Giants black & orange.)

GO GIANTS!!!

Oh my. Never seen one of those but I really like it! Wikipedia reveals it's powered by a supercharged LS-9 Corvette mill that produces 640 horsepower and over 600 foot pounds of torque.

OK, so now when I get rich I have TWO cars to buy. The Eleanor Mustang and one of these.

Today I saw a Hillman Imp, in what looked like mint condition. It's quite a pleasing wee machine to look at.

There is a diesel Chevette for sale on Craigslist near me. It's cheap and in good shape. I'm drooling, but why would I need five vehicles? I guess four is enough for one guy.
(yes, I like bizarre, wretched vehicles of certain kinds)

A cousin took me along to look at one. Of the people aware of Azteks, it seems there are people who hate the looks and people that own and love them. It fell onto her radar because it was in her price range but she hadn't researched them at all. I told her to google "ugliest car" and call me back; she was stunned how often the Aztek was mentioned. Ironically, I regret coloring her perception - the car was a good price, in very good shape, and a decent fit for her and her two kids, but all she saw was an ugly car after reading up on it.

We followed behind the Aztek for a while. It looks like it has decent interior space in a not-too-big platform. Wikipedia says you can put a full 4' X 8' sheet of plywood inside it, and they're either FWD or AWD.

Yesterday, a Buick Riviera - first generation, 1963-1965 vintage (like in this photo). It was silver/gray, driving past on California Avenue in Reno NV around 5:30pm while I was inside a restaurant (Dynasty Chinese), and for the brief 1-2 seconds I had to see it, she looked to be in excellent condition.

Sadly, no. Those are the photos I looked at before posting my contribution. I passed it in traffic on the highway so I didn't get a good look, but it's wasn't a favorable impression.

Yesterday, in New Cuyama, CA (vicinity of 4640 Morales St.), a 1977 Chevrolet Caprice Classic. Not in great shape, well worn.

When I was a teenager my parents had one. That was the "nice" car in the family, so I only got to drive it on special occassions, like taking my girlfriend to the prom or a special date. Otherwise, it was the 1969 Buick Skylark that I drove. But I digress...

But this car, in New Cuyama (tiny little town), was unique: it was lifted, I mean really lifted, on 35" all terrain tires.

I see lots and lots of Fiat 500's everywhere. But not very many Abarths. Was behind one at a light and when it turned green the guy stepped on it a bit and the exhaust noise was very aggressive and very Italian. Saw another one, the next day and it had the same exhaust note. So that's standard sound track for an Abarth. Which is way cool.

They are way cool, yes. The first car I ever owned was a Fiat, a 1979 X1/9, so I have a soft spot for the cars from Turin.

And the 500 commercials are nice, too. Images: 'Catrinel Menghia Fiat 500 Abarth commercial' -- CAUTION, some results NSFW.

Interesting tidbit about that model, Catrinel Menghia: she is Romanian and not Italian.

Comes down from the northern suburbs into east-central Toronto.

I was on a bus and I happened to look down and there it was, in dark silvery grey. I'm not sure what model it was.

Maserati Ghilbli Q4 in white. Followed it in traffic on the way home, sweet looking car, I've seen a few around here but I think most weren't Q4 models.

Saw my first Texas car with a license number beginning with F. Must have been from out of town, people were staggering out of all four doors, and doing stretching exercises with relief in the WalMart parking lot.

Thanks, was just curious.

This afternoon in Palo Alto, an orange BMW 2002tii in excellent condition. ETA: It was driving past me, oncoming, and so I only got a brief glance at it. The tii was clear on the rear deck lid as it went past. It was a very clean car, I wish it was parked and I could oggle at it some more.

Yesterday in Shanghai I saw one, an ivory Granturismo. Beautiful, curvaceous, stylish.

Also spotted in Shanghai: Buicks are popular here, there are many. I also saw a couple of Chevys, but for GM that was about it. Several Audis, a couple of Porsche Cayennes, exactly one 911 and so far no other Porsches. Many Hyundais. And many Mercedes-Benzes and VWs too.

Just looked at the Wiki. I would be stunned if it really could take a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Certainly not laying flat with the hatch down.

Hatch open maybe? Plywood on an angle?

With the rear seats removed, a sheet of plywood (48 by 96 inches) will lie flat on the floor if you leave the tailgate down.
http://images.blog.autoshopper.com/2...hr-i03-800.jpg

I guess that means you need to leave the lower part of the tailgate down to get enough length.

Huh. That's kind of impressive. The Jeep Grand or my Pathfinder does not have a full 4 feet between the inside wheel wells. Not to lay flat anyway.

It was a really neat feature for a car like that. Older minivans used to be able to do this as well, but I guess it wasn't as valuable to customers as other creature comforts.

Almost forgot to enter this one: yesterday, in Shanghal, an MG hatchback called the MG3. Living in the USA, the only MGs I've seen there are 1970s and 1980s MGBs, and then older MGs. MG still makes cars now, and in searching a little they also make the MG6.

Yesterday afternoon at LAX airport's Terminal 6 I saw one drive past. Me, standing on the arrivals sidewalk, and it, driving by at about 25 mph. As Telemark said, an awkward looking little car. To me it screams I'm-a-mini-Pontiac-Aztek-with-a-roundel!

That Mustang is fucking awesome. What a beast.

I must say, though, that i'm beginning to find these Ken Block videos a bit of a yawn.

Two, yesterday. First was a Mitsubishi i-MiEV, which manages to make the BMW electric car look sleek. The other was parking across the street from a friend's house - a late 60's Ford Falcon Futura.

Modern Dodge Challenger - black w/ red wide racing strip down the hood/roof. Inner headlights & fog lights were red.
I'm not saying it was eeevil looking, but after seeing that, I was ready to walk up to Christine & say, "Who's a pretty car? Who wants a widdle wuvin' & a skritch on the fins?"

Went to a funeral today. The hearse was for show; it was empty in the back. Casket was in the bed of the next vehicle; a '52 pickup.
