She hasn't been fired yet, according to your link.

Yes, but your OP says she has been "axed."

I'm surprised by this. She did a great job of abusing brown skinned children. You'd think Trump would have loved that.

Trump's going to keep firing random White House personnel until he figures out who's causing all the problems his administration is experiencing. Trump knows that somebody, who must be a central figure in the Trump administration, is the source of all these problems. But who?

Make it 4. We expect clear thinking around here, even if you're raving about something.

That said, churn in offices after an election is not unusual in American politics, but with this most unpredictable American President, it's hard to know what comes after.

That fact that they still are confused after the title, the links and reading the clarifications in this very thread is rather depressing. That said, is this going to be an actual public firing, or another fake resignation to save face? At this point, I don't think being fired by Trump would look bad on a resume.

It's not "confusing." It's inaccurate, in a non-trivial way. There have been many reports that somethings going to happen, and then it doesn't happen. Now, it may be these reports are accurate and she will be gone in a matter of hours or days. Until then, don't tell me she's been fired if she hasn't.

Your OP was misleading and inaccurate.

I could go back and edit except this site has the oddball restriction of not being able to edit a post more than a few minutes old. I have never understood the reason for that editing restriction , have not seen it on any other similar websites. ( I have a feeling someone will come along and tell me how wonderful it is that we cannot edit posts more than a few minutes old)

You're forgiven.

As I understand the edit limit, it's to prevent a change in the conversation after others have already replied. For example, imagine the confusion reading this thread if you could go back and change the OP to "Reports say Trump is considering firing Nielsen, head of homeland security." We'd have about 12 posts that make no sense.

I'd be happy if you would try to distinguish between possible future events that everyone is speculating about and present or past events that are happening or have happened when you write OPs. No punches required.

and Mrs. Trump has called for a person who works for Donnie to be fired.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/13/polit...del/index.html

Please note, very, very important, this person has not yet been fired!!! I repeat they are still on the job according to this article from CNN. They showed up for work today like any other day.

Mistakes happen. Not a big deal. But when it's pointed out, do you say something like this?

Or do you say, "I'm sorry, the language I used was a bit off. My mistake."

I was very disappointed with the actual content of the "Dopers punching Bijou Drains in the nose"-thread. Turns out it wasn't an accurate title.

I already knew there were reports of Nielsen's impending firing (or more probably, "forced resignation"). I only clicked on the thread because the wording made it plausible it had now actually happened. Now I didn't think that was certain, because many journalists (or whoever writes the headlines) and Dopers are less than precise when making subject lines/headlines, and that's a lot more problematic for a headline than for a Straight Dope thread, but an accurate headline would have saved me a click on yet another "Trump is going to do this!"-thread.

Hey bitch, let the door hit you in the ass. Repeatedly. Just stand in the doorway and let people slam as hard as they can right into your butt. Do it for 24 hours straight and you might feel one billionth of one billionth as much pain as the children separated from their parents. Their tears are on your hands, may you live long enough to be universally despised as the piece of shit that you are.

Yes.

I wonder which right-wing think tank or major corporation will reward her for all that with a cushy job?

CNN: Trump has vented privately that Nielsen hasn't adequately secured the border or enacted stricter immigration rules, even as she became the face of policies that administration critics called heartless and illegal.

She may have enforced policies that were heartless and illegal, but not nearly heartless enough. Until the number of brown people seeking entry at the southern border drops to zero -- or preferably negative, as brown people already in the country rush to get the hell out before the lynchings begin -- the southern border will be in a state of emergency.

Not that this stuff matters anymore, because this administration doesn't follow laws, but Trump apparently can not nominate Kevin McAleenan as the vacancy act explicitly does not apply here.

What really bakes my noodle is that Trump most likely "accepted her resignation" because she wasn't being cruel enough (per Wolfpup above).

FWIW, this story seems logical to me.

DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen resigns after clashes with Trump on immigration

Quote:
...
Nielsen's departure is a part of a massive DHS overhaul engineered and directed by top Trump adviser Stephen Miller, according to a senior U.S. official.
...
Miller is one of the few staffers that aren't disappointed or demoralized.
