Black Desert Online free weekend on Steam and the game is only five bucks for the duration. Looks interesting.

The combat is fun if you like action combat (a lot of dodging and special attacks) but it is SUPER grindy. As in the game is designed for you to set yourself in one spot fishing or riding your horse in a loop and then minimize the game before you go to bed or off to work. I had something like 800 hours in the game and probably no more than 100 of them were spent actually actively playing.

However, the first 50 levels come fast and, like I said, the combat is fun. The grind doesn't really start until you take up trade skills or want to make money while AFK to afford high end things.

Hm. I'll check it out while it's free but sounds like I won't be buying it.

BDO is very pretty. I bought it and even invested extra money getting perks like character outfits and stuff. But playing felt like a chore. I gave up after I realized after a couple of months that it just wasn’t fun, no matter how much I tried to convince myself it was.

Those who want to try the game and don't care about realistic names, this supposedly will generate a name that hasn't been taken.

Cities: Skylines is having a free, uh, midweek? Ends in 4 days anyway.

Cities: Skylines was the title that drove the nails into SimCity's coffin. I was going to say "killed it" but SimCity did that to itself. After Cities: Skylines came out though, there was no reason to even nudge the corpse with your toe.

Free for some of you. If you have amazon prime, you can link your twitch account to your amazon account and you get twitch prime. And twitch prime has been giving away 1-4 games per month. This month it's superhot, shadow tactics: blades of the showgun, oxenfree, and mr. shifty. You have to use the twitch desktop client as a launcher, but hey, free if you already have amazon prime.

The Darkness II is free on Humble for today and tomorrow. A fun first-person shooter where you also control some demonic tentacles from your back when you go all Hellish. Some fine voice acting as well.

Yeah, I got my key. And then went to redeem it. And then was informed that I already own the game.

So, if anyone sees this thread in the next couple days and wants a key, respond in the thread and I'll PM you the key. (If no one claims it within a couple day, I'll find somewhere else to give it away.)

Does it have any single player? Is the single player any good?

Thanks for the updates. I don't know if I'll get to many (any) of these games, but I sure like boosting my Steam library.

It's one of the few FPSes that people know for the single player instead of the multiplayer. As Jophiel suggests, the plot is a bit mindfucky.

It not only has single player, but the developers are on record saying that the multiplayer is complete garbage that was forced in by the publishers. In fact, I think they has to bring in a separate team for it because the original people wanted no part.

It's very much intended to be a single player experience.

Oh man, I've been eyeballing that for a long time. Read some really good things about it.

I'll be picking it up, but damned if I know when I'll get a chance to play it.

Yeah I'll bet...I'll probably at least pick it up on sale, I won't have time to dabble this weekend. Already promised my gaming time to kiddo, who wants to watch Fallout.

Going to play New Vegas or New Vegas? Or New Vegas?

I like that one.

Thanks, and for specifying "keeps." I'll probably never get into that game, but I like hearing about it. What other game lets you build a world of Horse Emperors.

Yeah, I agree! It's my favorite. We're on 4, though...he likes building, and on this play through I'm letting him decide where to go and what to do while I 'drive'. He likes to gravitate toward mirelurks for some reason! And man, does Dogmeat have a lot of houses.

Ironic update: The only name not taken that website will be generating is its own DNS name, because the domain registration has expired.

They're also offering another two games for free if you log into the front page of the store on 3 and 5 separate days up to May 17. I set up a browser on a computer I don't use to refresh the page once a day.

The 5 day one looks pretty neat. And the all-time reviews (not just the ones in the past month) are all mostly positive.

The "news" portion says through the 13th. Steam usually flips its deals at noon CST so I would try to get it before then on the 13th rather than assume it's until Sunday night.

Tides of Numinera is also having a free weekend - missed that one because it's not really displayed on the front page.

If you visit the humble store once a day for the next 3/5 days you get free AI War: Fleet Command and 12 is better than 6 respectively.

Unreal: Gold is free on GOG for the next 40 hours or so.

I didn't play it when it first came out; I seem to remember trying but not getting very far. My hunch is that I couldn't run it sufficiently so gave up.

Tried to play this one, but the mouse controls are super inaccurate and mushy. Played around with some setting but they didn't seem to help much. I'll have to revisit it later once I've caught up on my small backlog.

Distraint: Deluxe Edition is free on Fanatical

Fanatical used to be called Bundlestars and has been around for a good while and is an authorized key seller. They'll probably ask you to link your Steam account which is safe and is just done so you can one-click redeem keys to your Steam account rather than having to copy and paste them. It doesn't allow them access beyond that.

All Raiders of the Broken Planet campaigns are free to keep on Steam until Friday.

I don't really know anything about the game but it looks as though the base game is Free to Play but the three campaigns are $10 each ordinarily.
