Patriot on Amazon Prime

Anyone else watching this? I'd not heard of it before this past weekend, but binged it and was sad when season 2 ended.

It's a, i guess slow burn, type of spy show. Not non-stop action but enough. And the black humor is really great. I thought it was a great show.

Anyone else?

I must have imagined it - anyway I thought it was dark and funny and oddly enough the folksy music performances fit perfectly. No one else I've talked to seems to have heard of it though.

Fun fact - the big assassin guy is Tony Fitzpatrick - I grew up in the same town as him and bumped into him on a few occasions as we had some friends in common. I know who he is but I don't think we ever said 5 words to each other. I did attend one of his art shows WAY back in the day, maybe '82 - he's talented.

Nice! I thought it was awesome when John was singing about how easy it was going to be to steal the grocer's gun, and then afterward sang about how fucked up it was

I was at a holiday party a few weeks ago and someone recommended it. Based on the previews I'd seen I had low hopes. Man oh man, was I wrong. I feel like they made it just for me (the last time I felt that way was this SNL skit). Great writing, nuanced acting (even the minor characters), and a story that never failed to surprise. It wasn't perfect but it was pretty damn close. I plan to rewatch the series again, and hope that season 3 is in the cards.

I just discovered this show a couple of weeks ago and binged both seasons. I love the tone: dark, deadpan humor, sometimes absurdist. A definite Coen Brothers vibe. The actors are all great, the directing and cinematography is excellent, and I like the European setting.

The bachelor party episode in S2 is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.

I'm really hoping for a season 3.

We struggled just to finish the first season.

Talk about slow paced.

There were some good bits here and there, e.g., the police officer from Luxembourg.

And they just wasted Kurtwood Smith!

Those openings where the father's talking to the cameras serve no purpose at all. Jumping around in time has to be done perfectly or it is a disaster. This is the latter.

Piper's John's brother is just a red shirt.

Terrible people doing terrible things to innocent people. Well, that's a laugh and a half.
