I was sitting here on my couch when I thought of a true bicycle conundrum. It does not involve playing cards, but the facts are thus:

On the table next to my couch are several things, including multiple parts of a bicycle. Neither my wife nor I ride a bicycle. We have no children. We have no interest in ever riding a bicycle. Yet, I bought the parts. I have no intention of giving them to anyone.

Why are they there?

Prof Pepperwinkle, did the robber make off with any valuables at all?

Did the bank have a supply of valuables (by which I mean anything that could easily be converted to liquid wealth)?

Biotop, you said that you have no intention of giving away the bicycle parts. Do you intend to part with them in any other way?
By selling them?
By trading them?
By using them in a way which destroys them?

You imply that the contents of the table also includes some non-bicycle-parts. Is that correct?
Does your purpose for having these items require both the bicycle parts and the non-bicycle parts?

[and how do I keep getting ninja'd?]
Is it a blood bank?
Is it a sperm bank?

If a blood bank, is the robber a vampire? If a sperm bank, was he trying to get his own, er, deposit back?

No to selling.
No to trading.
No to using them up to destruction.
Yes to non-bicycle parts.
Yes to the last question as well.

Yes, it's a blood bank. He stole rare blood for his daughter so she could have a transfusion. Good job.

Biotop, are you constructing something?

If so, is it primarily aesthetic, like a mobile or a sculpture? As opposed to an object with non-aesthetic utility, like a fancy hat-rack or a pogo stick (or a steely dan).

Are the "several things" important for us to understand the answer?

Is the bike seat stem one of the parts?

Is any part of the handlebar included in your set of parts?

You've answered 'not exactly' instead of 'no' to two questions about the bicycle seat/stem so is there another type of seat, other than the kind you put your butt on, that is included in your parts?
Is there an axle bearing seat?
Is there a steering bearing seat?
Is there a crank bearing seat?

Are the bicycle parts functional or just decorative or have a secondary function on a bicycle? As examples, a water bottle, air pump or handlebar streamers wouldn't be primary functional parts of a bicycle.

Does "bicycle" in this context refer to the two-wheeled vehicle one can sit astride, propel via pedals, and so convey oneself from one location to another?

I figure I ought to confirm that, because this is getting kind of confusing.

No. I can barely hammer a nail straight much less craft any kind of tool.

Getting cooler.

Your second question is one of those not exactly answers better given as a No.

You and your sweetie were at a biker-lite costume party last night. The bicycle parts on the table beside the couch are what you and your sweetie were wearing prior to stripping your gears and putting Eco-safe veggie based UltraLube bicycle chain oil to a better use.

Are these parts from a full-sized real bicycle that a person would ride?

And you said that you are using the parts "as intended", does that mean that they serve the same function as they do when they are part of a bicycle?

No to question #1.

The second question is also difficult to answer. The parts are being used exactly as they were are intended to be used.

#####

My wife, who likes this riddle, notes accurately that this is the second time this year we have had bicycle parts on this same table for the same reason.
