Watched the premiere of Denis Leary's new show Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll the other day.

Now the "title" song is welded into every synapse of my brain. The horror.

(I don't think I'll be watching any more episodes. And not just because of the song. )

For a few days now: Clint Black's I'm Leaving Here a Better Man.

Country music as an earworm. Great.

What I don't understand is how an earworm can get started with a song that you really don't like. I have music playing in my head all the time, I guess because I are a musician of sorts. Radio Clothahump usually plays 4-6 songs and they rotate, but right now, I've got one that I really dislike that snuck onto the playlist.

Right now, I'm alternating between

Time Passages by Al Stewart
Grateful by Dave Nachmanoff
Walk of Life by Dire Straits
Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera
and the one that's about to make me pull my hair out: Fly Like An Eagle by the Steve Miller Band. Annoying as hell.

The theme song from Orange is the New Black. We did a mini-marathon yesterday and that song has been stuck in my head All. Day.

Pull Me Under by Dream Theater. Haven't heard it in ages but for some reason it popped into my brain today.

Love the song, just pulled it up and cranked it!

I've been hearing "You're in the Money" for a few years - they use it on NPR's "Marketplace" program but it doesn't matter if I've heard the show or not. Once in a while, I get a different ear worm for a while but it always goes back.

although I usually go back to Kandi,

However now it's

You didn't have to be so nice
I would have liked you anyway

OI! For right now, I've been stuck with Ringo singing "Don't Pass Me By"!

"I listen for your footsteps / Coming at the door..."

To help erase this, I will be frantically searching for Spongebob's musical doodle earwig song right... now!

I think you're all secretly coming here to post your favourite songs. Well, that or you're a bunch of sadists.

If you do want to dislodge that earworm though, you should pop over to the thread games forum and play one of those "make a new word" games.

I've really got to quit listening to my shuffle during my morning commute. Now I'm stuck with the lines "In Albuquerque! Albuquerque" from the world's strangest stream-of-consciousness song "Albuquerque" from Weird Al. The rest of the song didn't burrow its way in, but that dang New Mexican city....

The lullaby "All through the Night." My youngest child is 8, and it must be about 5 years since we've played that song in our house, but it's been in my head for the last month or two. Hoping that listening to it on YouTube will get rid of it....

Big mistake.

Horribly stuck in my brain. It's not a worm, it's a snake.
My condolences, ftg, and I hope the song is gone now.

I hate that f-ing song. It makes me want to jump into a well. Ugh.

Quick, what's your current earworm?

John Oliver played snippets of some obscure death metal (maybe?) group on his show. Apparently they're the first Western group invited to play before Kim Jung Un. I keep flashing on they're bizarre mixture of English, German, and ?? sung while skeletons frog-marched in the streets. Oliver characterized the lead singer's voice as Freddie Mercury choking up a frog. Please make it stop.

Prepare yourself: If you ever call La Quinta hotels and get put on hold, the hold music is VERY similar to the Banana Splits theme song. I advise caution.

Carly Simon's You're So Vain, because of the Camry commercial. Except that in the commercial it isn't Carly Simon.

The Sound of Silence

It began only a few minutes ago when I read a friend's status update, which was something like, "What do you say to your fear?"

"Hello darkness, my old friend..." sprang irresistibly to mind.

From experience, I've got about three days of it ahead of me.

L is for the Way You Look at Me is my current earworm. It popped into my head about five days ago and I have no idea why. I'm sure I haven't heard it in years. My brain is weird like that.

Not me! My current earworm is the Genie song from Aladdin, except I replace the lyrics "All you gotta do is rub that lamp!" with "All ya gotta do is rub dat ass!"

It's my wife's fault.

"Zip a dee doo dah" with visual image from Song Of The South of Uncle Remus and animated tweetybird on his shoulder.

No idea why it popped up a few minutes ago, especially considering I haven't seen that footage in 55 years.

I've gotten the song 'Milo' by Matt the Electrician stuck in my head. (I don't think the version that the post talks about how he and his wife were having a baby and it was a boy. ( They thought.) And she loved the name Milo. And he hated that name and told her and he says, "That's when I learned the hard way that you never get in an argument with a pregnant woman.")
So he writes the song. As an apology.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HIV07w7pms

And then after the last Daily Show, I've had Born to Run stuck in my head. They're battling it out.

Heard it while doing yard work & suddenly remembered a world where adults wore sport jackets, men had Dorothy Hamill hair cuts and drove Camaros, and kids got everywhere with 10 speeds.

I've been on a John Denver kick the last few days and have been listening to some of his albums on You Tube. So, though I haven't listened to him today, I have Ain't It Good to Be Back Home Again going through my head right now. In the morning, it was I'm Sorry.
