Listened to the album this is on for the first time in a while and got Airport by Peter Hammill into my head... It's quite melancholic.

Cows with Guns, unfortunately.

We will fight for
Bovine free-ee-dom
And hold our large heads high.

We will run free
With the buffalo
Or di-ie-ie!

Cows with guns.

Street In The City - Pete Townshend

Came up on Spotify while trying to find new-to-me Ronnie Lane music. Good song, but sticky. Pete's gasp is a bit over the top.

(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” by B÷C, Blue ÷yster Cult

They looked backward and said goodbye
She had become like they are
She had taken his hand
She had become like they are
Come on baby
Don't fear the reaper

A classic

From the file of bizarre and completely unexplained earworms:

I now have in my head the Wagner tune sung by Elmer J. Fudd - "Kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit..."

Damn you. If I hadn't read this thread title, I'd never have noticed that I currently have the background music to the original Legend of Zelda running in the back of my mind. The volume was low and I was thinking of other stuff and hadn't noticed. It's really repetative.

I step outside this morning and the air is chilly and crisp, and the sky is bright and sunny. What immediately pops into my head?

Unfortunately- the Brady Bunch kids, singing...

It's a Sunshine Day

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NaCCG7QkM_c

i think i'll go for a walk outside now
the summer sun's callin my name
(i hear ya now)
i just can't stay inside all day
i gotta get out get me some of those rays

everybody's smilin
sunshine day
everybody's laughin
sunshine day

Right now it's the guitar riff from Aqualung.

I had the hook from Captain of Her Heart stuck in my head every day for almost fifteen years until I finally downloaded the song and listened to it all day long every day for almost a month. That did the trick.

I know there's a hate-fest going for it in another thread, so me saying that there isn't appropriate.

Beethoven's 4th. Not kidding. Played it a couple of times to drive out a different earworm, forgetting that I know this thing like the back of my hand from a few decades ago. Every goddam note. The good thing about it is that at least there's a lot of ground to cover before the inevitable replay. Much better than listening to Karate by The Bedwells over and over, or Sahara Elektrik by Dissidenten, which sounds like a very nice German drinking song sung in Arabic.

It is from one of my all time favorite albums but there is no reason for it to be playing in my head for the last week.

Like millions of other New Yorkers, I am tormented day and night by the 1-800-Kars-4-Kids song.

In 1991, I spent a 7-hour flight helpless against an onslaught of the deservedly obscure 1938 Bing Crosby song "I've Got a Pocketful of Dreams." I just looked for it on YouTube to confirm the title, and dammit....

We re-watched Saving Mr. Banks, about Mary Poppins' author and Walt Disney. So...

Oh, it's a jolly holiday with Mary
Mary makes your heart so light
When the day is gray and ordinary
Mary makes the sun shine bright!

Oh, it's a jolly holiday with Mary
No wonder that it's Mary that we love!

It's driving me crazy.

Right this minute: second or third movement of a Beethoven piano sonata in G major. Don't remember which one it is by number, but I used to play it (very badly) a long time back.

Our college choir is practicing this fabulous song. Listen at your own risk, as it is one sticky son-of-a-gun. Impossible to be still while singing or listening to it. It's the Lord's Prayer in Swahili.

When it's still running around in your head a week from now...you're welcome.
