I think Orson Bean is my favorite actor; he's been in so many Oscar-winning movies, too many to count.

Speaking of Newton, I think that I will always see Newton as Orson Bean when he played him in the biopic. Bean had an amazing presence.

So wierd that this thread seems to be devolving into a bunch of unrelated non sequiturs, but I remember having them as a kid. it has been a long time since I've had a fig Newton though.

Fig Newtons were not named after the renowned physicist, but after Newton, Massachusetts, near the home of Kennedy Biscuit Works (forerunner to Nabisco).

I could not disagree more.

Isaac Newton would be so ashamed. Imagine having your name linked to an abomination fruit. You can talk about "everday science" all you want but this is disgusting.

It’s not just fig - Nabisco makes ‘em with apple-cinnamon, raspberries, and strawberry fillings. Ol’ Isaac would be proud...if you could make him quit obsessing about the dimensions of Solomon’s Temple long enough to tell him.

Wrong, wrong, wrong! Leibniz invented calculus! Newton invented cookies! Although it remains a mystery where he got figs in 17th century England.

Apropos of nothing, I was recently reading Of Tasty Treats and Higher Mathematics by Prof. Thaddeus Phartuccio, and came across a reference to Leibniz's ginger cookies, which were apparently quite popular among the University of Stuttgart's mathematics faculty. By contrast, Isaac Newton, who as everyone knows invented calculus, was a health nut, never baked and ate nothing sweeter than dried raisins.

I actually think that's Tim Burton's best work, despite all the flaws.

Evidently he did it while in school. I haven't' seen it but from what I understand it's basically a porno with no nudity or any genitalia shown at all. And it's typical Burton - big ideas, funny and gruesome effects, but a little short on character work.

Speaking of obscure movies, has anyone seen that obscure Burton title, Jeetlebuice? Something to do with ghosts getting it on?

That's truly, obscenely revolting. It reminds me of this 80s movie I saw late one night, don't remember the title, with a head in an aquarium. Freaked me out as a kid.

Yes, but the weirdest part of all was when the police opened the freezer in the basement up they found some of the body parts had been RE-frozen. As in, they showed evidence that they'd partially thawed but were put back in to the freezer again after he did whatever sick thing it is he had to do. And yes, their mouths were frozen in an open position. None of the heads belonged to exes that I know of.

So gross, Cardigan. I can't believe that your neighbor made dead people sculptures and even had frozen body parts in his freezer. Nothing could be more disgusting than that.

So they finally executed Bob "The Sculptor" Bukowski, the bastard that killed and chopped up 12 high school students for his sick "art", and hid the body parts in a freezer in the basement. This is why you always have to check the credentials of school employees, and run psychological tests, from teachers all the way down to janitors. I oppose capital punishment, but I'm glad the fucker's dead.

Dang, I am one pissed off puppy! My neighbor (Bob) borrowed $50 off me like over two years ago. I've repeatedly asked him to pay me back (he claimed all of his exes kept taking his cash), but based on some recent news it's possible I may never see my $50.

I believe that if the fissure isn't infected, I think that you'd be OK if you just flushed it out with .9 percent saline solution. But take that advice with a grain of salt, I am not a lawyer.

I was just reading about a court case in which a Des Moines mime sued his proctologist over a botched operation on his, er, well, um... infected anal fissure. The mime got a med-mal judgment of $10 million. The Iowa Supreme Court, understandably enough, refused to take the case on appeal.

I'm sure the next two comments after mine won't derail the thread at all, but I just walked into a spider web this morning and it was creepy AF. I am not scared of spiders, but there are these big ones that come out at the end of summer and put up webs all over the yard and between our house and the neighbors. I didn't see the web at all and bam! I couldn't tell if a spider was in my hair or not but I thought it was there for a moment. And I know you're thinking "Oh those spiders can't be all that big, can they" Let me assure you, they are like a foot long from stem to stern.

I'm delighted to boast that I always type Wednesday and February correctly, despite not pronouncing all their letters.

It's my keyboard that keeps misspelling them!

Why do so many people misspell words like Wednesday and February and Mxyzptlk? Do they also mispronounce them?
