63 Up

In 1963, director Michael Apted did a BBC program called "7 Up" where he interviewed a diverse group of British 7-year-olds, and the program was so popular, he's come back every 7 years to do updates. "56 Up" was disappointing and I was not the only person who wondered if that would be it for the series, but it isn't; they're back for another episode, which will probably air on PBS in the months to come.

One of them died in 2013 and others have refused to participate, something he respects, and I do look forward to seeing it.

The wife and I have watched the entire series, finding them on tape or DVD in Bangkok. Now in Hawaii, it's doubtful this new one will play here, so we'll have to look for the video (if not catch it on PBS). And maybe finally buy a DVD player. But it's a fascinating series.

Why "whoops"? In that context, it's not an unreasonable description.

I’m guessing hogarth is unaware that manner is the correct form of this expression — though, as with a thousand other examples (it’s a basic way language changes), the mistake is so common that, on some level, manor is becoming “correct” as well.

That makes two of us. I had to look it up, myself, when I saw it in that article.

Good piece here that makes the case for “manor”:

Okay, sorry for the diversion...back to the wonderful series culminating with 63 Up!
