High end internet assholery.

So a WoW player dies - the actual human being behind the character dies. His guildmates decides to hold an in-game funeral for him. 30-40 of his WoW friends gather around while someone logs into his account and plays his character...

Now, that's pretty nerdy. I'm sure they meant well, though.

Anyway. Rival guild knows this is going to happen. So... they sneak in a rogue, ambush the dead guy's character, and the rest of the clan comes storming in, killing everyone at the funeral.

Internet assholery, to me, is nerds acting out bullying impulses from the safety of the internet because they were too timid/weak to be actual bullies. It's really pathetic.

However, this may be the greatest, most organized case of purely internet-based assholery. The people who organized it probably deserve to get their nuts stomped on for trying to cause emotional distress to people who obviously take this very seriously, but in a way, you almost have to admire the scope and execution of it. It may be the greatest internet assholery caper of all time.
