Baker, I'm so sorry, but doing a health-check just now(prompted my the Shannen Doherty announcement) I noticed that I misspelled Shane MacGowan in my list way back on Post #139.

kopek is critically ill - he had a serious cardiac incident at about 3:30am today. Details from Old_Wench in this thread. Thought his fellow Death Poolers might want to know, and send thoughts and prayers his way.

That's one I actually caught. Mispellings are so easy.

You know what name has give the most grief over the last few years? It's Lindsay/Lynsay/Lindsey Lohann/Lohan/Lohanne.

Before that it was Muhammed/Mohammad/Mohamed Ali. At least folks usually spelled his last name correctly.

Oh, and Rosalynn Carter has two "n" on her name, and does not have an "e" following any of them.

Whew, thanks for letting me vent!

I know people supposedly die in threes, but Kirk Douglas, Orson Bean and Robert Conrad in three separate deaths, totally unrelated in three days?

The mind boggles.

If you remember a few years ago, the cast of The Golden Girls started something similar. Estelle Getty died in 2008, Bea Arthur in 2009, and Rue McClanahan died in 2010.

The only reason that stopped is because Betty White is a Highlander.

As a group of people become older, there will be more deaths per year.

Clayton Williams has died at age 88.

Williams was a businessman and the Republican candidate for the Texas gubernatorial race in 1990. He lost to the Democratic candidate Ann Richards.

If Hell exists and Mr. Williams finds himself there, I'd advise him to "relax and enjoy it."

Nikita Pearl Waligwa, an actress known for Queen of Katwe from Disney, has died at age 15, after battling brain tumors for the last few years.

While that sucks, think of the points someone could have claimed, Age and being a unique pick?

Tony Fernandez, former Toronto Blue Jays shortstop, dies at age 57.

Link.

I wasn't a Toronto fan, but I remember this guy when he played. Probably the best shortstop in the history of the organization.

You know, I've never understood this rule. It's no more macabre to say "Ooh! I got 96 points cuz the Gerber baby(who had been suffering from pablumitis) died" than it is to say "Yay! Random Old Guy(who had been suffering from cancer or just being an old guy) died and I get 15 points!

I think you're probably in the minority on this one. To my mind, a child dying is qualitatively worse than an adult dying, especially an adult over (say) 70 - though admittedly the 'thresholds' here are arbitrary. Someone who dies under 18 hasn't really had a fair crack at life.
