Sanders too.

I seriously doubt either of them will answer badly on Coronavirus questions because both are rational people. Unlike Trump.

If Bernie wants to use it, he has the upper hand. His big government proposals are what people want in an emergency like this.

Bernie is just so much sharper a debater (and thinker, too, if debates like this measure quickness of thought). I know there's virtually no path left for Bernie, but I wish Biden had his focus and sharpness in terms of debating skills.

The military is practiced at building hospitals quickly and anywhere as they may need to deploy anywhere in the world (think M.A.S.H. units). They have the supplies for it on hand too. Stuff a contractor probably could not produce on a moment's notice.

Biden's not bad, I just don't find him nearly as sharp and focused as Bernie.

I fully expect Bernie to get the better of Biden tonight, but it will only matter if Biden really has some tragic gify gaffes that get played over and over again a la Rick Perry.

I would be very surprised if Biden's staff didn't drive home with Biden to just chill and get through this. He does not need to win, he just needs to not screw it up and so far he is doing exactly that.

Personally I think Sanders needed to drag out Biden's past legislative record and have him answer for it but, for whatever reason, Sanders is not going there.

There was an article somewhere (don't recall where) that talked about how Sanders' advisors are begging him to go very negative against Biden, but he's refusing, for a very interesting reason -- he personally likes Biden.

Someone needs to ask Eric Holder what he makes of being thrown under the bus for not jailing anyone for the 2008 financial crisis.

Bernie Sanders doesn't have any real friends in Washington unless they're people who idolize him and model their own campaigns after his (AOC, for instance). I never bought the punditry that he likes Biden and that he was just going to softball questions. Sanders drinks his own piss because he thinks it's mineral water.

I'm skeptical that you have special insight into the mind of Sanders.

I believe the Biden social security issue is when the Republicans led by Newt Gringich wanted to cut "entitlements" he turned around and said "ok, you want to cut social security then will you support cutting the military budget". Hence putting everything on the table.

Bernie's doing well. Unfortunately, this is the equivalent of scoring a few runs while trailing enormously in the bottom of the 9th. He's going to have to hit multiple Grand Slams.

Yeah. Honestly that should be the fundamental base from which the debate stems. Both men have a very long legislative history. It is all well and fine to say you (general "you") want to do X and Y but I think seeing what a person has done is more telling than what they say. Actions speak louder than words and all that.

Bernie's right. If you want a guy that has always supported 2020 mainstream Dem positions, with the sole exception of the gun issue, he is your guy. Biden is a Johnny come lately.

Joe not showing any sign of dementia. Both doing very well although I think Bernie winning on points. The most entertaining and intellectual of all of them so far to this political junkie.

They should have more one on ones instead of twenty person debates. This is good stuff.

Biden loves listing his answers.

"Number 1........."
"Number 2........."
"Number 3........."

Over and over.

I will say this: I think Biden could have a Latino voter problem, and Sanders comparatively has done better with Latinos while Biden has done better with African Americans.

Bernie's going to just stop fracking...

Does he know how many people are employed in the oil and gas industry? I mean, I'm anti-fossil fuels myself, but let's not pretend we can just waive a magic wand.

See the box in the lower left corner? They made a big deal about staying six feet apart, but people are walking back and forth, patting Joe with makeup. No coronavirus fear? I guess Bernie walked off to take a sit down.

If the answer is you can never shut something down that employs people regardless of whether the industry is harmful then we're fucked.

It's the fundamental difference between Biden and Sanders. There's ranting about what you're going to get done, and there's... you know, what you can actually get done.

Biden knows the difference because he's been in both places. First he was an idealistic senator who had big ideas -- and then he was a member of an administration having to work his ass off to get what he could get in the way of compromise to accomplish what he could.

Sanders has only lived on one side of that coin.
