I don't think you can "add more content" to something that is not yet a working game.

Build the house, then add on extensions/wings? I suppose it could be done that way...

Well, "content" is a pretty broad term for anything in a game. So sure, the new planet and moons are content.

I'm curious about what the new content actually is. I saw a few videos that are appear to be flybys of the big city to show scale, and it does indeed look very large. Are the cities functional? Are there missions to do or enemies to fight? What does one do in Lorville?

Star Citizen has received 46 million dollars in venture capital in exchange for a 10% stake in the studio.

Also of note is that Squadron 42 (the single-player component of the game) has been given a release date of Summer 2020.

Note that Roberts is saying the $46 million will go towards marketing. Marketing Squadron 42, not the full game.

Scaaaaaaaam.

According to an accounting document released around Christmas, CIG has spent $193.3 million since 2012, with $14.23 million left in reserve. About $48.8 million of that was spent in 2017, putting the company’s most recently reported monthly spending at about an average of $4 million. Remember, per the current TOS, they don't need to specify what the hell they're doing with all that money.

Eh, this is actually pretty cool and inclusive.

We can chalk it up to baseline Star Citizen-scumminess if you have to 'donate' a certain amount of dollars to gain access to the emotes.

No, I'm not going to knock them for this, disability inclusion is something that should be considered and included in all gaming.

Finish the damn game then add more bling.

Their low reserves combined with the fact that virtually no other game caters to those with difficulty hearing smacks of Roberts trying to find yet another source of funding to squeeze.

That's the thing. If a reputable game company said they were building accessibility into the game I'd say bravo. This screams "we need a fresh source of funds for our Ponzi scheme."

LOL Star Citizen. Holds the record for longest almost finished game in history. First time I've peeked into the game room here. I play a couple I don't see listed. Boy, was I surprised to see THIS one here. Whattahoot!

Gotta keep that money rolling in...

On the of chance ray tracing does get added to Star Citizen it'll slow down development even more, and the improvements will be slight.

Somebody on the SC forums asked if ray tracing was going to make development easier, and the dev responsed that they're not using it at all.

This is a nothing story, though I found this quote kind of amusing:

Quote:
The added headache is that whatever we offered would have to be an "as well" feature rather than an "instead", developing a feature for a single manufacturer's top-end cards means also maintaining feature parity for everyone else's hardware.
Feature parity for everyone else's hardware? Isn't Star Citizen supposed to be the game that finally doesn't coddle to casual players with casual hardware?

According to this:

Quote:
* Windows 7 (64bit) with Service Pack 1, Windows 8 (64bit), Windows 10 - Anniversary Update (64bit)
* DirectX 11 Graphics Card with 2GB RAM (4GB strongly recommended)
* Quad Core CPU
* 16GB+ RAM
* SSD strongly recommended
I ran it in slideshow mode on my laptop a while ago.

To clarify: they're not currently using it and have higher priority things to work on but that dev wants to add ray tracing. Which would slow down development and Roberts loves to keep that money rolling in.
