Steve Martin had a Top 40 hit with King Tut.

EDIT: Chevy Chase starred in Caddyshack as a playboy golfer who was a member of Bushwood Country Club.

The gopher noises used in Caddyshack were actually voiced by a dolphin.

Beverly D'Angelo starred in the Milos Forman-directed film version of Hair, choreographed by Twyla Tharp.

ETA: Gah! indeed. I'm supposed to be working here!

The Miami Dolphins are the only team in NFL history to have an undefeated season.

The character name for ALF, the cat-eating alien from the planet Melmac on the eponymous sitcom, was Gordon Shumway.

The city of Cincinnati was named for George Washington, who often compared himself to the Roman farmer-general Cincinnatus.

George Washington manumitted his slaves in his will but delayed it until the death of his wife and he encouraged her to free her slaves as well; she did not, but she freed his slaves during her lifetime because she realized that otherwise they all had a vested interest in her death.

New knowledge! I've never come across the word "manumitted" before.

The USS Lady Washington was the first US military vessel named for a woman.

The NBA's New York Knickerbockers were named after a character created by Washington Irving.

Dwight Babcock of Knickerbocker Bank and Trust Company was the administrator of Patrick's inheritance and the title character's archenemy in AUNTIE MAME by Patrick Dennis (whose real name was Edward Everett Tanner, III and who later became a butler for Ray Kroc). I decided to give lots of possible things to play off of; I wish I could think of a way you can play off previous tiles as with doubles in real dominoes

The capital of Bahrain is Manama, without the final "na" that would make it a song by the Muppets' Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

When Howard Carter first discovered King Tut's tomb and peered into the darkeness, Lord Carnarvon asked him if he saw anything. Carter replied, "Yes, I see wonderful things".

Not true, but others often made the comparison.

Jimmy Carter confessed to having felt "lust in my heart" in a notorious 1976 Playboy interview.

Nitpick: Only team to cap an undefeated season by winning the Super Bowl, but during the 1920's, four teams went through their respective campaigns without a loss.

For their White Nights and their eventual real mass suicide, the residents of Jonestown used tubs full of Flavor Aid, not Kool Aid (thus "drinking the Kool Aid" is a misnomer when used to mean blindly following).

Almost all of the Zealots defending the desert fortress of Masada committed suicide rather than surrender to the Roman legions laying siege.

The 1980s miniseries of Masada starred Peter Strauss as Jewish zealot leader Eleazar ben Yair and Peter O'Toole as Roman general Flavius Silva (and both, imo, were phoning it in).

I don't get the link with Dabbs Greer.

The Bell Witch is a southern ghost story, allegedly based on fact (though it seems to have 'significantly grown' with each retelling), about a Tennessee family haunted for a generation by an invisible and destructive spirit who spoke in an audible voice and terrified Andrew Jackson when he attempted to investigate.

The Blair Witch Project (the closeness of whose name to the Bell Witch implies an arguable inspiration) inspired the Bones episode "The Headless Witch in the Woods." The victim's film professor was played by Joshua Leonard, one of the three actors in the original film.

Linda Blair enjoyed (if that was possible with a guy like him) a romantic relationship with Rick James. His song "Cold Blooded" is supposedly about her.
