What is a paperless title for a vehicle? When would you want that?
I'm trying to sign my car over to a relative but, I can't find my car title and was going to apply for a duplicate.
The form from the DMV website has check boxes for: _ Lost _ Stolen _ Not received _ Illegible/mutilated(attach old title) _ Paperless Title What is that last one? The website search doesn't have any other references to Paperless. Maybe I would prefer Paperless, since then I couldn't lose it, but there's no place to ask for that for the new title. |

I think it only applies to the lender's copy of the title.

When I lived overseas, you don't get a paper title, only a registration. So when I came back and shipped a car back, I had to apply using my old registration as proof that I owned the car. Maybe that is what they are talking about?
