Late-Fight Television: Stewart vs. Colbert vs. Conan

Last night, one of the biggest battles in late-night TV came to a conclusion as Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Conan O’Brian decided to settle once and for all who made Mike Huckabee like real Americans: by fighting to the death.

For weeks now, all three stars have claimed by syllogisms that they made each other: Conan made Huckabee thanks to Chuck Norris and the Walker, Texas Ranger Lever. Colbert made Huckabee thanks to the Colbert Bump. Conan made Colbert by mentioning his name on his show. Jon Stewart made Conan by interviewing him on the old Jon Stewart Show. Conan made both Jon and Stephen by delivering them. Colbert got so angry last night, that he decided to go on Jon’s show and complain…and then, things got ugly. Or at least, they would have if Jon didn’t have a show to do. But Stephen ducked out to do his show. So Jon and Conan decided to settle it there…or they would have, if Stephen didn’t have a show to do. You can probably guess what happened next. Conan had his show to do.

I won’t give away the final outcome. You’ll just have to see for yourself.

I’ll have to wait for tomorrow night, I’d almost forgotten it was still on when the slew of repeats kicked in (because of the writers’ strike I assume)

That is quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve seen from all three of them, and they’re some funny guys. Thanks for putting all those together.

I was hoping they would do something like this - Stephen did talk about it openly on the air, saying it would allow them to kill time on all three shows - but I never thought it would get that involved. I liked Conan and Stephen singing together, I liked Jon’s inhaler, and the “Late Night” fight did actually pay off. I wish this kind of thing happened more often.

When did Conan shave the beard, by the way? That was disappointing.

I had all these on my DVR, but thanks to the OP because I really couldn’t wait. That was great.

mobo85, thank you. That was great.

My sides ache from the climax of that. I only saw the first bit last night. Thanks!
I wish late night was like more often.

Man, I couldn’t disagree more. The whole thing is pointlessly unfunny to me and a total waste of airtime.

Screw the union, and write some comedy, or scrap the show and play “The Blues Brothers” for the 100,000th time.

I don’t like Conan but that last part had me laughing pretty hard.

Yeah, i’m afraid i’m going to be another dissenting voice here. It was OK, i guess, but not great. And the level of time-killing and cross-over or repetitive crap on The Daily Show and The Colbert Report over the past couple of weeks has become almost unbearable.

We have Stephen going on John’s show; John going on Stephen’s show; John showing a re-run of when he went of Stephen’s show; John showing a re-run of when Stephen came on his show; Stephen showing a re-run of when he went of John’s shows; and Stephen showing a re-run of when John came on his show. And all that in addition to the rehashing of old material on each show—usually old material that wasn’t very funny in the first place, like Stephen with his Wrist-Strong bracelet.

If they’re going to show re-runs, the least they could do is dig up some funny special reports. There have been times in the past when i was almost rolling on the floor during special reports by Samantha Bee, Larry Wilmore, John Oliver, Jason Jones, etc. If they ran one of those every night in the second segment of The Daily Show, i’d be very happy.

I think it’s great that they support the writers. I also admire them for trying to keep the shows going without them. But the fact is, i’m turning off earlier every night, or am watching with one eye while doing something else.

Now, “Retired, Lesbian Gym Teacher” was FUNNY!
