In movies (Traffic) and TV shows (Breaking Bad) when they’re smoking crack or meth or what have you, the shots seem fairly clear of some white substance burning and then the smoke being inhaled - anyone know what that stuff is?
The white stuff is probably either sugar or salt crystals.
No idea what they use for smoke.
I would imagine that salt crystals might give off chlorine gas, which would be toxic. But I have an active imagination and I am not a chemist.
You might want to check that there’s an actual scene where a crystal of some sort is put into a pipe then burnt and inhaled all in a single cut. Personal guess would be that in all cases showing the crystals and showing the smoke are separate cuts.
