Counting the Votes - One Last Time!

Two questions about the counting of the Electoral College votes in the Senate:

  1. when will it be?

  2. will it be televised?

I’d like to see how Gore handles the job of announcing the results. I missed his concession speech.

It’s this Saturday (January 6). The House website says that it will meet at 11 am EST, but the counting usually takes place at noon. It will be televised on CSPAN.

I watched the process in 1993. It’s not nearly as exciting as you would think.

well yes, but who would have thought that chad and butterfly ballots could be so exciting?

It’s just that I need closure.

Then hold on to your hat, it will be one wild ride.

The only way it will be interesting is if some member of Congress objects to a set of electors, but I don’t believe that any Democrat has said that s/he will object to any votes.

When Dan Quayle announced his own defeat in 1992, he seemed a bit annoyed at having to do it. I’m sure that Gore will plod on through the process and try to finish it as soon as he can.
