“LG external HDD cannot be modified” is the message I get when I try to add files to my brand-new 1TB LG XD7 external hard drive. I am using a 5-year-old MacBook. I would gladly RTFM, but I live in Korea and the handbook is in Korean, which I neither read nor speak. Is there an easy way to get around this?
Open Disc Utility to see if the HD is maybe formatted in NTFS (Windows). Disk Utility will allow you to format it in MacFS (or FAT32, if you want to use the files on Windows systems as well).
I poked around Disk Utility and couldn’t find any formatting options. Where should I be looking?
