dental code vs medical code

i need help. my wife’s insurance covers medical but not dental. a procedure she needs is listed ( or so i am told by blue cross) in both dental codes and medical codes (the same procedure). the procedure under the dental code is 04273 (gum treatment). would anybody know the medical code for the same treatment?

IANAD or insurance

the medical code designation might have to be done by a MD, DMD or DDS

pdivito, 41870 is the CPT code for periodontal mucosal grafting. Your orthodontist’s medical coder should be able to verify this or give you the correct code. Medical coding is an art in and of itself.

By the way, the first letter of the code you have is “D,” not “0.” You’ll have more success researching D4273.
