"This time it's personal" origin

I hear this reference all the time, but I don’t know where its from. And as a reference freak IT’S DRIVING ME CRAZY!!

What is the origin of this quote?

Thanks!!

Jaws: The Revenge

(part 4)

Cisco’s answer is confirmed by the IMDB: http://us.imdb.com/Taglines?0093300

OTOH, that movie only came out in 1987, and that phrase sure seems like it’s been around longer than that.

The OP posted in 1999, and here I am in 2017 looking for the same thing! That’s how I ended up here, doing a Bing search for “This time, it’s personal”.

I’ve come up with basically the same response that OP got; Brody, from Jaws. The only variation was on which Jaws, 2 or 4? Someone said Jaws: The Revenge, so wouldn’t that be Jaws 2? I need to be correct, so:confused: which movie was it, and what was Brody’s first name, Matthew or Michael?

Thanks!

Cisco was correct in post #2, above. It’s the tag line from Jaws: The Revenge, the fourth movie in the Jaws franchise.

And Chief Brody’s first name was Martin.

I thought it came from the straight to video film sequel *9 to 5 part II: This Time it’s Personnel. *
