Actress with the most onscreen deaths

so i was thinking of how having Sean Bean in a movie is almost like an automatic spoiler and i easily found lists of actors who have died onscreen. however, i couldn't find any such list for actresses. do women simply die less often onscreen? or is it the relative lack of female villians? anyway, which actress holds the most number of deaths onscreen?

It might be a step in the direction of "the most" to mention those that have died onscreen at all.

To that end:

Glenn Close
Rebecca DeMornay
Mercedes McCambridge
Margaret Hamilton
Ali MacGraw
Joan Crawford
Susan Hayward

Without doing any research, my gut would say Tilda Swinton, as she seems to get cast as villains a lot.

Even though woman villains are less common, "Girlfriend dies, sending the hero on a mission of revenge" is has got to be one of the most overused movie cliches, so I imagine the answer is some mid-level actress who is popular enough to frequently play the gf of the lead, but not so popular that the director has a problem killing her off early on.

Other categories/genres where a particular actress gets cast as a victim in multiple roles:

vampire
zombie
film noir
sci-fi monster
gang war
dying maiden
evil mother
"bad seed" girl
doomed sweetheart
outlaw's bitch

Well, two isn't exactly hard to beat, but I guess we have to start somewhere.

Female characters in Chinese films seem to die more frequently then their western counterparts. That's probably another fruitful place to look.

Zhang Ziyi dies in Rush Hour 2, House of Flying Daggers, Hero (sort of, she had a death scene anyways), Crouching Tiger (maybe), the Banquet and The Grandmaster.

So that's six (and I imagine she dies in other films as well, hopefully someone else can fill in).

So can anyone beat six (or add to Zhang's total)?

I came in to mention her. She dies in a pretty ridiculous % of her movies.

Sarah Michelle Gellar dies:

2x on Buffy
1x in Scream 2
1x in I Know What You Did Last Summer
1x in The Grudge 2
1x, fake, in Ringer
1x, brutally, in Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

I may have made that last one up.

Do the actresses playing replicants in Battlestar Galactica count? Most of them died at least a half-dozen times during the course of the series and that's not even counting when they blew up the resurrection ship.

Tricia Helfer (Six/Gina/Caprica)
Grace Park (Boomer)
Lucy Lawless (D'Anna Biers)

Lillian Gish? Died in Broken Blossoms, La Boheme, Duel in the Sun, A Wedding and probably a few others.

Michelle Rodriguez seems to always find a way to get herself killed. Since lists seem to be the way to do things around here, lets get on with it:

LOST: She gets randomly shot. But it's Lost, so that kinda stuff happens every other week.

BLOODRAYNE: The only good thing about this movie is that they killed her, so I can have one more name on my list. And she doesn't even get a good death here, it's just kinda awkward.

RESIDENT EVIL: A zombie bites her, and she spends the second half of the movie dying.

RESIDENT EVIL: She comes back as a zombie, and they shoot her. Yes, they kill her twice in this movie.

FAST AND FURIOUS: Oh hey, she actually survives in thi-

FAST AND FURIOUS 4: Oh. right.

AVATAR: She gets shot down after about 2 mins of fighting and firing 1 shot, probably more out of habit than anything else.

So we have six deaths each for Zhang Ziyi, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michelle Rodriguez, assuming you count double deaths (Gellar in Buffy and Rodriguez in Resident Evil) or debatable deaths (Ziyi in Crouching Tiger and Hero).

Can anyone come up with more movies that those three actresses died in or other actresses that have had seven or more on-screen deaths.

Jenette Goldstein, best known as Vasquez in Aliens. This list has 8 on screen and 1 offscreen death.

Titanic and Terminator were both off-screen, according to that site. That still leaves her with seven deaths though, so she's in the lead.

All righty, then:

Lucy Lawless: 11 deaths

Xena, Warrior Princess: 4 episodes
X-Files
Boogeyman (offscreen)
Battlestar Galactica: 3 episodes
Burn Notice
Angel of Death
Spartacus

IIRC, she pulls a grenade pin and we see the explosion. I think that counts as essentially on-screen.

Wasn't she dead and impaled on T1000's metal finger on screen? Or was that a different character?

from what i can tell on this page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharon_...mer.22_Valerii, Grace Park dies at least about 10ish times onscreen for Battlestar Galactica alone, so the actual number may be more, not including other shows.

No, she did the sword-arm impaling on Xander Berkeley, and Robert Patrick did the pointy-finger into Sarah Connor's shoulder.

Yeah, when you start getting into resurrections, cloning, time travel, etc. it kind of changes the game. Hell, Michelle Rodriguez has been killed 4 times in the Resident Evil series alone.

Off topic, but Xander Bereley has 19! One of which was after a fight with... Dabney Coleman.

Who loses a fight with Dabney Coleman? Xander Berkely, that's who.

Sean Bean is the only female on this list.

Ironically, while Bruce Willis comes in at No. 2 (Robert De Niro is in first place), he does not die in any of the Die Hard films.

D'oh! I don't blame you. I had a brain fart and confused him with Sean Young. (Hey, I'm old. )

Meanwhile, I've seen Agnes Moorehead mentioned as dying a lot in films.

the current lead is Lucy Lawless. compare this to John Hurt, who has apparently died in 40 movies, or Sean Bean in 20 movies. that is number of movies, folks, not specific deaths.

I got Boys Don't Cry , Million Dollar Baby and Amelia.. And I just realized I don't know that I ever actually seen a Hillary Swank movie so I can't comment on any other possibilities.

Hmm, how do you like that? I learned something today.

Strike that. I saw Insomnia. Think she makes it through that one alive.

IMDB is right. I litterally did not recongize Vasquez as the same actress from The Presidio, Lethal Weapon 2, T2, or Titanic although I remember those characters.
