The NBC new tonight said the organization holding the contest has been classified, by the Southern Poverty Law Center, as a hate group, and mentioned that it had to put up an extra $10,000 for security in order to hold the event at that site.
Well, looks like that “security” deposit was well spent.
Sad how useless our courts were in locking these two up. A 4 year investigation and they couldn’t even get Simpson on the no fly list.
In a way, its good the two wanna be terrorists acted this stupidly. A bullet in each of their heads makes us all safer. Just imagine if they had selected a shopping mall. No preplanned event security to stop them. They could have killed a hundred or more.

I dunno if you all remember - but wasn’t there also a TV show that set out to troll Nascar fans to some interesting results?
If you set out specifically to upset people - don’t be surprised at the results.
Of course - we should be able to say anything we want about any religion at any time and to my mind - “forcing” the issue is the best way to make people realise that what I say cannot change their relationship to their god.
That however, is a separate issue.
The thing is these would-be smiters of bogus sacrilege could not even understand that by attacking they were feeding the trolls. All they proved was exactly the organizers’ point. Bravo, dudes.
In America, even Hate Groups are entitled to peaceably assemble as long as all they do is talk out of their asses and not actually organize or encourage aggressions; and trolling and causing offense are not crimes or merit being stopped with deadly force, while attempted murder OTOH is and does.

First, find them. Do you have any serious candidates? I mean, other than the truly fringe groups leftists are desperately trying to exaggerate into a threat greater than radical Islam.
“Piss Christ”? No violence. Ofili’s “Holy Mother Mary”? Had paint thrown over it. PZ Myers’ troll of his intent to defile the Catholic Eucharist? Threats. You’d have to up the ante. Maybe an invasion of a Catholic church and using the Eucharist in a homosexual act. But I wouldn’t count on it.
The fact that someone tells you they will kill you if you don’t toe their line is exactly the reason you shouldn’t toe their line.
If they said “feel free to do what you want and draw what you want and we won’t hurt you. But be aware that it causes us distress” then these incidents would be far fewer. (not eliminated of course because dickheads are eternal)

I sincerely hope you read this over again and see the huge problem with this sentiment. Even if you restrict yourself to violent Christians, you’re saying they are more worthy of a police-administered death penalty than other violent people.

The vast majority of Muslims do say that. Why should these terrorists get to control what we do?
