They’re one of the organizations that leaves bins in parking lots, and they are very controversial, especially among those of us who are booksellers.
The library where I volunteer sends books to them too, although we do it because they provide the boxes and also pick them up at no cost to us when we have a pallet load, and send us a check when our share of the proceeds reaches $50. Since they sell a lot of their books for a penny, that takes a while, and we don’t mind because like I said, we send them our extra books at no cost to the library. It would cost us money to store and/or otherwise discard them.
Unlike (I’m sure) some other people or entities, we DO NOT send them garbage. Things that are really, truly garbage go into a recycle bin, and probably account for less than 1% of our donations.
So, has anyone here ever worked for them, and if so, what is your experience?
