another eye question

What does LASIC stand for? The only thing that comes to mind is “Laser accuracy surcical immediate care” [sub][sup]I’m an idiot. [/sub][/sup]

IANA(n) ophtalmologist, but I searched it on the web and found that LASIK stands for laser in-situ keratomileusis.

No idea on whether LASIK equals your LASIC, however.

Oops. I wasn’t sure if it was LASIC or LASIK. Now I know. But what does laser in-situ keratomileusis mean?

In situ means they leave your eyeball in your head.

Well, I would certainly hope they left your eye in your head.

keratomileusis (“carving the cornea”). Apparently “kerato-” refers to the cornea and “-mileusis” refers to the carving.

Some surgeries remove the eyes to work on them.

I had to have it done as a little kid.

Not a pleasant thing to have stitches behind your eyes. Trust me.
