What candies do you like?

(Long) Poll coming.

Myself, I cannot imagine a world without Caramello, Twix, or Reese Peanut Butter Cups.

York Peppermint Patty? I like all of these, except Heath Bars.

There's a kind of sesame nut brittle sold in the bulk candy section of the grocery store. Sort of like the sesame seed honey brittle, only this has whole nuts in it. I allow myself a square a week , and I really really really look forward to that square a week.

I really don't consider most of the choices "Candy". Candy bars, yes, but not 'candy'. M'Ms are candy and I like them. Don't care for skittles, and JR Mints are ok

Candy bars? 3 Musketeers, Reeses Cup, Peppermint Patties, Caramello, but sometimes I go years w/o eating any of them.

I am not a peanut person, so Snickers has never been a favorite, but a few months ago I noticed they now have a Snickers Bar a made with almonds, and I have to say it was pretty dang good, but I only tried it the one time.

I also like Cadbury Fruit & Nut chocolate bars (with raisins and almonds) once in a while, even though chocolate is not something that I typically crave too often.

(I remembered that I also like an occasional Kit Kat or Twix, so I guess that chocolate and me get along pretty well afterall....)

Hmmm, there needs to be an easy way to Select All Options.

And then I'd unselect Skittles.

Does anyone even buy Mr. Goodbar? I think that if they weren't included in multibags of Halloween candy, nobody would ever bother with them.

I like a lot of these choices, but anything containing chocolate is not "candy" to me. My favorite kind of candy is pretty much any kind of gummy, but especially Wine Gums.

How about Zagnut? To this day, whenever I think about Zagnut (which, to be fair, isn't very often), I think of the movie 48 Hours. When Eddie Murphy's character was complaining that he was hungry, Nick Nolte bought him a Zagnut bar from the vending machine and said "Here's your goddamned dinner". I don't think I've ever actually had a Zagnut bar, and no one I've ever asked about it has either. But I know it's a real candy, and apparently is still around.

I also like: malted milk balls, Gimbal's gourmet jelly beans, Blackberries and Raspberries and their Cherry Lover's jelly beans, Laffy Taffy, caramels of all flavors, toffees, Jolly Ranchers and peanut brittle.

I'm quite sure there are more.

Nestle 100 Grand and Goo Goo Cluster are two I like that's not on the poll.

Some I don't buy because they don't fill me up. Mr Goodbar, Herseys Bar, M&M's for example leave me still hungry. All those calories and I'm hungry.
Kit Kat , Snickers satisfys my hunger much better.

I voted ""What about.....?"

Marzipan. Is that considered a candy here in the US, or a confection (it comes in many forms, such as small figures, outhouses, animals, etc)? Anyway, I love it, and can't stop eating it when I'm in Germany.

This IS candy, but I don't know what it's called: It's a caramel circle with a sweet white paste in the middle and one could buy it as a theater snack.

Thanks

You left out the Milkshake Bar. Probably because they haven't been made for years and were never a national brand.

It's a relabeled Mars bar (well, US-version Mars), and it's a different formulation than just Snickers - peanuts + almonds... it's a sweeter, the nougat is softer, etc. It's also been re-relabeled back to Mars in some markets. I like them too, but it took me a while to accept that it wouldn't be the same dense/less-sweet experience as the original Snickers.

Easier to list candies I don't like. Candied citrus peel, licorice and Raisnettes.

As I've grown up I realize that the "chocolate" coins in our stockings and bunnies in our Easter baskets was really just brown wax. But I've graduated to better chocolate.

My favorite readily available at most checkout counters candy bars are Milky Way Midnight, Whatchamacallit, and Hershey with Almonds.

If you stood me in the candy aisle of a big store and said "you must choose one item in this aisle and that's the only candy you may have until your 50th birthday" I'd pick peanut M&Ms.

I'm a Doper on a pretty tight budget these days, but when things loosen up I enjoy quite a few of the chocolate offerings at Trader Joe's, particularly the organic dark chocolate truffle bar.

I'm a hard candy fan, so where are my Jolly Ranchers?

I also indulge in salty licorice from time to time. Dubbel zout anyone?

This baffles me. Of course chocolate bars are candy. I've never heard of anybody making this distinction before.

I have a prodigious sweet tooth and could add more candies to this list all day. But the most glaring omission is Lifesavers.

I voted for the vast majority of the list (because, c'mon, it's candy). To the ones I voted for, I'd also add Sour Patch Kids, Lemonhead (and Orangehead), Goetze's caramel creams, Reese's Pieces, York Peppermint Patties, Zero Bars, Zagnuts, and Reese's Crispy Crunchy Bars. And Milky Way Simply Caramel Bars.

Twizzlers is another of my favorites left off the list.

And don't get me started on the Twizzlers vs. Red Vines debate. I've always thought Red Vines taste like Play-Doh.

Heath and Skor as I love toffee, but I eat the chocolate off them before eating the toffee. Then, Payday and Reese's cup due to the salt, which is noticeable to me. Whatchamacalit for the rice crispies. The only chocolate bar I like is Mr. Goodbar, which I can recognize by taste. I never really liked chocolate.

As for what about? You forgot to lists the different Snickers. I prefer almond. Again, I separate it from the chocolate.

Since I work in a grocery store (kinda sorta) I was going through the new candies we are getting and saw that we are getting "cinnamon bun bites", from the makers of cookie dough bites.

Thinking of this thread, I saw the Snickers Almond at the checkout counter and decided to grab a couple, as the first one I had was quite good, not to mention that I couldn't find any marzipan outhouses at the supermarket....

You left out so many good ones:Rocky Road (especially the hard to find Mint flavor), Butterfinger Crisp, Uno, Krackel, White Chocolate Kit-Kat, Peanut Patties (apparently only found in Texas), those peanut butter trees you only find at Christmas, etc.

100 grand, Milky Way Simply Caramel, Rolos, Ghiradelli Milk Chocolate Caramel. Are you sensing a theme here? Just about anything chocolate with caramel.

And then we move on to the fruity candy's. I am 47 and my niece introduced me to Sour Patch Kids last summer. Where were those when I was a kid?

Malted milk balls. I actually prefer Whoppers with chocolate-flavored coating over Brach's with real chocolate coating. The real chocolate on the latter seems to me to have a fruity taste which I find distracting.

So far, I like everything in the poll and everything that's been mentioned in the thread. I don't eat a lot of candy, but everything (not containing coconut) that has been mentioned, I've enjoyed at some point.
I voted for Reece's Peanut Butter Cups because, while I go through stages of what sounds good, I've never turned down a RPBC. I've been not in the mood for almost every candy listed, but I've NEVER have turned down a Peanut Butter Cup.

Peace - DESK

I really don't like candy. Yes, I am a mutant. And yes, this adds nothing to the thread.

I'm missing the "sweet=tasty" gene.

Put pretzels or chips on the list, and we'll talk

Zagnuts are very good, in a toasty-coconut sorta way. I'll also second Coffee Crisp and Aero bars.

And I think there has been no mention of Sweet Tarts (?)

And finally, no love for Smarties , which are criminally underrated.

Didn't see it in the poll, but I admit to having a weakness for white nougat. In fact, I'm eating a piece as I'm typing this. Damn, that's good stuff.

Oh, and liquorice. Preferably of the sweet variety, though I have nothing against salt liquorice as well.

They sound awesome, something I would really like. But I'm not sure I've ever actually seen them in person (or I just haven't noticed). I think they're a victim of terrible marketing. Awful name and bland packaging. Shame, because they do sound pretty yummy.
