Our little nest of vipers: Ramira.

Seems not a day goes by that our erudite friend, Ramira, isn't a belligerent or condescending asshole.

Even when she's obviously wrong and inarticulate, she seems constitutionally incapable of admitting she made a poor analogy and offer a retraction.

So this little pitting is to thank you for your various contributions and suggest you lighten the fuck up.

She's too busy being bored to lighten the fuck up. You need to toss something shiny on the ground to distract her.

Yeah, I already noticed that and put her on ignore. I had not seen anything really productive out of her.

But she needs a mod note or warning for that sort of thing outside the pit.

I'll bet she gets Clobbered by Colibri when he's sees it.
That sounds better than getting Boned by Bone.

...the very least you could have done was linked to the post that started the entire exchange in the first place. Because from the first link you posted Ramira firstly absolutely concedes she is wrong, then proceeds to respond to an ad-hominem attack on her which is entirely her right. Post 203 seems like an appropriate response to a very pointed accusation and Post 206 was a snarky response to your snarky question. Based on your OP: can I suggest that maybe its you who needs to lighten the fuck up? Or at the very least put a bit more effort into your pitting? Because this pitting seems lame as fuck.

You seem like a clever fellow. Just click on the thread title in any of the links provided and read on, McDuff.

Is there anything more ironic than pitting someone and telling them to lighten the fuck up?

Ramira is an interesting poster who adds color to the place. You've made over 16k posts and I can't remember a single fucking thing about you, that's how boring you are. Based on the same thread you felt the need to cite three times, Ramira isn't the one I'd tell to lighten the fuck up.

...I am a clever fellow. I have already clicked on the link and followed the thread and found the original comment. That was five minutes I won't get back. This pitting is still lame.

I was once told by a genuine First Nations shaman that my spirit animal was a Canadian goose, one of the crankiest animals known to man. He might have had a point.

Unlike this pit thread.

Added on Edit: A tip of the hat to that sweet simulpost by Inner Stickler and running coach. They're right.

( Well, Tommy Chong/BobBitchin' is Canadian...I/me/SDMB member posting this is a loud American)

On topic, I say if ya wanna spread your attitude around you HAVE to learn to say "I'm sorry" when you were an ass and " I was wrong" when your mouth over runs yer brain.

It happens to me in real-life all the time.

I like how the Ramira inserts the unnecessary definite articles in every sentence. I mean the sentence.

... just out of curiosity, do you start every post with an ellipsis?

I am not going to go investigate, but it's been very noticeable in this thread.

Yeah, the guy who is somehow being forced to read this thread and its links, post here and wants all that time back.

Unfortunately, this is not a magic universe. Hermione Granger ain't going to appear with a time-turner to settle this.

BB is bound by the chivalric code to white knight for any female poster in distress. Ellipses are mostly because it isn't easy to type wearing steel gauntlets.

As for the Ramira, yeah she is acerbic and sometimes an arrogant asshole but a) she's French (I think) and b) who cares? Sometimes it's annoying and sometimes it's warranted or at least understandable. It just depends on the thread.

Ramira's "the" thing is clearly at this point a deliberate affectation. Her English is good enough that the fifty thousand times it has been pointed out to her would have sunk in if she wanted it to.

Ramira is an ass who goes after everyone. I actually defended her and she decided to chase me down and go after me. She only posts here to attack people.

She is the most basic form of troll, and thus it makes sense people think she's faking her English affectations. You don't get the benefit of the doubt when you're constantly attacking people.

I honestly can't remember a post from her that wasn't her attacking someone. Though, admittedly, I've had her on ignore for a while and only see what she says when people quote her.

Especially on a forum where most of the posters hold opinions radically different then yours, make stupid and ignorant comments on your culture, act like patronising fucks most of the time, gang up on you.

Catch me up on something. I've been gone.

Is Ramira Palestinian?

And is the title of the OP a reference to that?

From her previous posts, my understanding is that she's from the Magrheb and Muslim; has a pretty strong background in economics; and posts from France.

Hence my admittedly speculative comment about English being her third language: I assume her other two languages are Arabic and French.

Her sentence structure in English, such as the use of "the" and making adjectives accord with the singular/plural state of the nouns they define, is very consistent with French grammar; I would say she's fluent in English, but is thinking in French.

No idea about the thread title.

I've studied French since Grade 7; and in uni; and took a law degree in French; and worked at a job where I had to do law in French; and have pleaded cases in our trial courts and appellate court in French.

And my written French is not good. That's one of the hardest things to get right, in my opinion. My reading comprehension, my ability to speak and my ability to understand someone speaking in French are all good; writing is something else.

I've had my errors pointed out to me regularly in my written French; I still make them.

I assume that others who speak French and then learn English may have similar problems. Fluency isn't an "on/off" situation, but a spectrum, and writing is difficult.
