$1,000,000 in renovations to your house

Ok I would do the following

Outside

Expand the back patio to cover the block patio my father installed 13+ years ago that is uneven due to upheaval

Replace the original patio which is cracked

Install Solar Panels on roof.

dig up driveway and walkway, install heating elements and then pour new ones so I never have to shovel again.

Find and fix what is making the side of our house muddy

Convert my Propane grill to Natural Gas

Install a hot tub

Inside

Install dual zone heating & cooling since downstairs is freezing in the summer and hot in the winter to have the upstairs comfortable.
Since this is a bi-level we would have to gut it to do that
Install a full house wired network with everything going into the garage
Heat the garage
add a security system
enclose backyard patio and have infrared heaters so I can use the enclosed patio in winter
Add a touch screen computer into the wall so I can pull up recipes while cooking

Yeah, this, but I’d be damned sure to try to get them to let me spend some of the money to repave our road. The state “owns” the road - which only has 3 houses on it, ftr -but doesn’t plow or maintain it in any way. Rob next door and I look after the trees and brush that need to be mantained along sides of the road, but after 15+ years without any repaving the road itself in sad shape.

The other $900,000 or so could design a really nice house, too. Something with a five bedroom design (3 would be offices), a whole house propane generator, finished basement, nice hot tub, lots of new landscaping…And the biggest frickin tv on the market for home use.

Outside: outdoor kitchen with a smokehouse, including cold and hot smoking. Hot tub with a nice privacy gazebo.
Inside: We just redid our kitchen, so that’s not needed. I’d trick out the workout room with a nice spongy floor. Redo both bathrooms upstairs, putting in a really nice two-person spa shower and a jacuzzi tub in the master. I’d redo the footprint of our bedrooms, too.

New siding, roof, an attic fan, maybe geothermal energy?

Still unsure if that would hit a million.
