Humans did co-exist with woolly mammoths and saber tooth tigers. I didn’t see any dinosaurs in the trailer. Looks like a fun movie to me.

Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot that everything is supposed to be inaccessible and difficult to understand. My bad.
What do you mean? I really don’t know.
The “dinosaurs” in the trailer look like they could actually be some sort of [Terror Bird](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phorusrhacidae), which makes it a little less implausible. There used to be speculation (since disputed) that some kinds of Terror Birds survived into holocene times.
I thought of that, but those birds were native to South America. (Is it possible the movie’s supposed to be set there? Nothing would surprise me.)

In all but a few places Mammoths died out at the end of the last Ice Age in 8,000 BC. The first pyramids where constructed around 2,500 BC. It’s not like this is the Flintstones or anything.

Okay, so we’re good on the Mammoths

I saw no pyramids (taking your meaning as Egyptian pyramids) in the trailer. I did see a rather improbable [ziggurat](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziggurat), however. Ziggurats were built much earlier than classic (Egyptian) pyramids, although not 10k years ago to anyone’s knowledge.

Yes. There were terror-bird equivalents (yes, unrelated) in Australia and surroundings. So its not that huge a leap, what the heck.
I just re-checked the trailer. They do indeed refer specifically to 10,000 years ago.
Well, wait a minute. Wouldn’t that be circa 8,000 B.C.? Freaking lying titles!

(Although I expect that this will rank 4,612th on the list of logical/historical problems for this movie.)
I have some sympathy for this view, but maybe they could have called it something other than “10,000 BC”, and not have the trailer not showing lights on the planet going off as we travel back in time (“invites you to journey back”), and all that stuff. The Lord of the Rings was apparently also in a fictional past, but they didn’t say what date or anything specific, other than calling it “Middle Earth”, which could be any time or place (or planet).

OTOH, a lot of the stuff in that trailer looks explicable, right up to where we get a stone city (and metal), which is a stretch. Maybe in the end the whole settlement gets Wrath of God thrown at it in such a way that the stone remains would never be found.
I think it is a rather conspicuous display of what this message board is so good at. Throwing up artificially clear delineations of time. They believe they can pin everything in time, but truly all that the archaeologists and anthroplogists can pin down is when metal was widespread. Surely there werr some hundreds, maybe thousands of years of mettalurgy and experimentation before the generally accepted diaspora, with that temporal proximity and delineation of dated metal tools. It’s likely the first blades split from the earth, geo heat and a metal deposit. People might have had the knowledge in pockets of progress, and the technology might have been lost and reinvented many times.

Was that a “special person” (DS), that was shown in the original ? Or was it an Alien?

It’s praise. I agree, in other words.
I believe many of the so-called “scientists” around here are much too rigid in imagination. Why are you threatened by the next Jurrassic Park? This could be your time to shine. Lots of people don’t know that the animals depicted in this Fantasy did all actually coexist with man. It’s the Jesusmammoth.
