By the list given, even Pinocchio should be listed as a robot movie.

> Nope. Compare [Robbie](http://www.jeffbots.com/forbiddenplanet.html) with [“the Robot”](http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=10486). Robbie was probably an inspiration for the Lost in Space version, but they were definitely not one and the same.

I’m guessing that the author is referring to Robbie’s guest appearance on _Lost in Space_, as noted above. He was probably altered slightly from his appearance in _Forbidden Planet_. Both robots appeared, for example, in the episode “War of the Robots” from the first season.

Your professor was mis-informed, and/or making stuff up.

Yeehaw! And another awesome project comes out of CMU–

> Fictional robots from films will soon be enshrined side-by-side with their real-world counterparts at Carnegie Mellon’s new Robot Hall of Fame. The reason? Science fiction and popular culture are often influential in the development of new technologies, including robotic technology.

A robot hall of fame! Sometimes I think I have the coolest alma mater in the known universe! :sniff:
