I lived in southwest China for a few years, and I sometimes saw parents helping their kids (usually 5 and under) piss or shit on the sidewalk. Those kids usually wore pants with a slit in the ass area so that you could open it up for easy access. The parent would hold the kid in the air, open up the slit, and let the poop come out. Usually this would happen over a planted tree in the sidewalk, thankfully. Never saw adults doing this shit though, so I’m still a bit mystified by the Louvre sign. And none of the people I saw doing this would have been able to afford a passport and trip to Europe. ---

I was at the Lourve this past October. In the men’s room closest to the main entrance 5 of the 6 urinals were covered in plastic and clearly out of order. Of the 4 stalls only 2 were working. The place was overrun with tourists, Chinese and others. I can’t read Chinese so I didn’t see the sign, but I imagine there were plenty of folks from all over the world who were carefully considering their options that day. ---
