No sign of social services, like several years since? Seems like a whole bunch of people who could have been the access point to this family mess. Services messed up long before any individual - should never have got within years of this event. ---

The idea of even charging her is absurd. Sad that the 16 year old brother was killed. I’ve no doubt that he needed help too. Prosecute the ‘parents’. ---

The youngest person to be tried as an adult in Florida would have been [Cristian Fernandez](http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/2014-06-23/story/cristian-fernandez-get-trauma-treatment-sought-advocates) at 12, but he pled out last year. [Lionel Tate](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lionel_Tate) (one of the “wrestling murder” killers that started a brief panic in the 1990s) was about the same age and was convicted and originally sentenced to life without parole, but the sentence was later overturned. Since then [SCOTUS has ruled](http://www.cbsnews.com/news/supreme-court-strikes-down-mandatory-life-without-parole-for-juveniles-convicted-of-homicide/) that juveniles cannot be sentenced to LWOP on the basis of mandatory sentencing laws anyway. ---
