With Viserys and Ned, about half of the first book is spent building them up to be major characters, and then all of a sudden, they’re just gone. I definitely didn’t see that coming the first time I read it, and I wonder if the series will try give that same sense of shock? ---

Saw that a mile away. I actually thought Ned had died when Littlefinger first betrays him. The chapters ends with Littlefinger putting a knife under Ned’s throat. I remember flipping through the rest of the book until I found a Ned chapter. “Phew, he’s safe!” I want to have a watch party so I can see reactions when Bran gets chucked out that window. That was the moment for me when I knew the series was different. The Red Wedding, if we make it that far, will be something else altogether.[/spoiler] ---

I like having Bran this age; previously, it would jar me out of the book when it was mentioned he was only 6 or 7; even at the ten he supposedly is, he looks small enough to be about the age/size I always mentally pictured him at.
