$2.00 Gas Coming?

http://democracyrising.us/content/view/483/151/ This was a business decision from day one. It was about oil.

Even if we accept your link (with again, zero analysis by you…another drive by, ehe?), so what? Whats it got to do with the subject of the thread? If you want to talk about business manipulating the US into the war in Iraq, that would be the subject of another thread. I don’t see how it thickens the plot wrt to THIS thread however. Perhaps, just perhaps mind you, if you actually took the time to back up your drive by links with some analysis of your own and explain how you see this link, then things would be a bit clearer when you post.

Just a thought.

Thank you xt I’ll have another. But this thread has gone far from where it started and not at my urging. I can avoid drive by by pointing out at how many times it diverged. But I wont. This is a drive by response brought to you from our good ecological friends at Exxon.

No, really the only divergence has come when you brought up Enron or the Iraq war or something else unrelated to the topic at hand. The thrust of this thread was that oil companies are either manipulating gas prices to benefit the GOP or kill alternative energy. You have argued they are manipulating prices to benefit the GOP. When we press you to offer any evidence of that, you start posting cites (with no commentary) about Enron or the Iraq war or any other irrelevancy you think of.

First divergence was response no 5 from Renob.

Post number 6 by renob states the following:

In response to the OP:

Nothing “diverting” about renob’s response. He explained that pricing is caused by supply and demand and not because of a few market manipulators.

At the store right by where I work, gas was $2.10 the day of the election, it’s $2.09 today. It’s not an Exxon station, though.

Did that Congressional district send a Republican to Congress? If so, maybe the oil companies are rewarding the people by keeping prices low.

Gas prices are down to $2.09 and still falling where I live. This two months after the election. In spite of OPEC’s declaration that they will be cutting production, the price continues to fall. In spite of the fact that we are still in winter (albeit a mild one), the price continues to fall.

Even though the Republicans are no longer in power, the price continues to fall. Damn, doesn’t it suck when you run smack dab into the wall called “reality”? I can’t wait to hear how this fits into the great Republican conspiracy.

They are actually falling here as well. I saw gas at below $2 a gal, but it was at one of the Indian reservations which are always a bit cheaper.

I just filled up at $1.999.

I’m confused. I think I’m just gonna camp out at the voting station, maybe there’s an election coming up that I didn’t hear about.

Same here. It went way up immediately after the election but this past week has gone back to where it was before. I had the same thought yesterday after my fiance filled up at $2.04.

Be fair, y’all. It’s been 60 degrees in January, and heating oil hasn’t been used at all. Going to be a heck of a price spike this summer.

There always is. I can’t wait for someone to assert that Republicans are manipulating the price then. And someone will.

The point of this whole exercise, of course, is to destroy the paranoid conspiracy theory in this thread. After multiple pages we still have people claiming price manipulation. Others have been patiently explaining reality. With this bump I would hope that the lunatic fringe would use the recent price drops to reevaluate what is obvious.

There’s been no price drop around here.

$1.89 this morning in Southern Ohio.

Given your location, I blame the Democrats. It’s just as plausible that they are manipulating prices in the only part of the country where prices aren’t dropping than it is that the Republicans manipulate(d) them nationally.

$1.92.9 in Eastern St. Louis this morning.

1.79 per gallon in the Toledo area this morning. WOOHOO!!!
Thank-god we voted in the Dems… :stuck_out_tongue:

$1.78 here in northwest Ohio today. :stuck_out_tongue:
