2 tiered internet

There’s already a packet prioritizing method called QoS, whereby Voip and gaming data packets are labelled as requiring priority service over things where speed is less important, like email or bittorrent data. Your ISP may support it, but it could require an extra fee for them to turn it on for you.

2 tired service on the internet is merely a cash grab by bigwig CEOs who don’t know how the internet works. There’s a quote around somewhere that I can’t find right now where one of them asks something like if a site uses a lot of bandwidth (like YouTube), why shouldn’t they pay extra to have their data moved?

This of course ignores the fact that YouTube has an ISP that they already paid $$$ to to send their packets, and you have an ISP that you paid $$$ to to receive those packets, so anyone in the middle who wants to somehow get more money directly from content providers should be whipped with RG58 until they realize they have their heads up their asses.

So if I understand, in order to have full access and privileges, people would have to pay extra for “membership.”

And in return, these “members” would have ultra-fast service with higher reliability and less downtime. . .

I don’t like where this is going.
