If you look at the county maps for those mystery states, you’ll see. Georgia only has one pretty rural county reporting. It was 50/48 Republican in 2004 ---

It didn’t post its results until late in the night during the primaries and I doubt we’ll see anything different this election. By the time it reports in, the election will be decided without Indiana. ---

\*\*Frank’s \*\*right. One or two counties is not nearly enough to draw conclusions about a whole state. CNN calls RI, MI, WI, MN, and NY for Obama. ND and WY for McCain. ---

I happened to be watching the news, and it was explained as follows: Once a certain number of precincts have reported, the exit polls for those precincts can be compared to the actual numbers to come up with a correction factor for any bias in the exit polls. This factor can be used to correct the exit polls for the remainder of the state and project a winner. ---
